Presidents and their contributions

Mr. Crisanto Almario is known as the “Father of Medical Technology” and organized
PAMET on September 15, 1963 at the Manila Public Health Laboratory in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Charlemagne T. Tamondong (1963 – 1967) “Emergence of the Profession”


- President for 3 consecutive terms
- Approval of House Bill No. 7682 on May 10, 1965

Nardito D. Moraleta (1967-1970) “Professional Recognition”


- Known as the Father of the Profession
- Approval of the Republic Act 5527, also known as Medical Technology Act
- Organized the first PAMET chapters outside Manila (Cebu and Baguio)
- Organized the council of Medical Technology Education in 1969
Felix E. Asperer (1970-1971) “Legislative Agenda”
- The only president who served the association for 5 years
- Worked for the approval of Presidential Decree No. 498 on June 28, 1974
- Accreditation of PAMET as a bonafide organization with the Professional
Regulation Commission on May 24, 1975
- Organized more PAMET chapters

Bernardo T. Tabaosares (1971-1973) “Celebration of the Profession”


- Proclaimed the 3rd week of September as the Philippine Medical Technology week
- Worked on the amendment of Teves Law
Angelina R. Jose (1973) “Career Advocacy”
- Had the shortest time of office (8 months)
- Worked for the upgrading number of medical technology profession by raising the
number from 20 to 3
Venerable Oca (1977-1981) “Educational Enhancement”
- Monthly seminars for the continuing professional education of medical
technologists
- Monthly medical missions which offered free laboratory services to the less
fortunate Filipinos

Carmencita P. Acedera (1982-1991) “Image Building”


- Intensified the civic development of PAMET through medical missions
- Active participation and involvement of the whole PAMET members in all of its
activities
- Has improved the financial status of the organization
- Closer coordination between PAMET and PASMETH for the upliftment of the
organization
- Publication of the official newspaper for the association called “Lab News” and the
“Philippine Journal of MT”
- Scholarship projects for the children of qualified PAMET members
- Placement programs for the medical technology graduates in clinical laboratories,
in medical companies, in school, and in drug companies
- Proposal of new staffing pattern for Medical Technologists, salary scheme, hazard
pay, and change in the position of the board of Medical Technology

Marilyn R. Atienza (1992-1996) “Pro Activism”


- Conducted community programs
- Publication of the official journal and membership of PAMET to the Asia
Association of Medical Laboratory Sciences (AAMLS)
- Inclusion of Medical Technologists to hazard pay

Norma N. Chang (1997-2000) “International Leadership”


- Conducted the revision of Medical Technologist Code of Ethics on May 7, 1997
- Scholarship of the deserving Medical Technology students sponsored by Safegaurd
Agnes B. Medenilla (2001-2002; 2005-2006) “Organizational Dynamism”
- Amendments of the Republic Act of 5527
- House Bill 4742 (Board of MedTech)
Shirley F. Cruzada (2003-2004) “Interdisciplinary Networking”
- Drug testing training workshop
- Graduate scholarship project for bonafide PAMET members
Leila M. Florento (2007-2013) “Global Perspectives”
- “Beyond expectations”
- Worked in the interest of promoting excellence in the practice of medical
technology
- Organized different PAMET chapters

Romeo Joseph J. Ignacio (2013-2015) “Golden Experience”


- “Medical Technologists Soar Higher through V.O.I.C.E.” Visibility, Oneness,
Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence
- Worked for the upliftment of the medical technology professions
