IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH THE WARRANTY TERMS AND TO GUARANTEE THE USEFUL LIFE
OF DAF BUS INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTS IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE APPROPRIATE
LUBRICANTS, COOLANTS AND FUELS ARE USED, AND THAT THEY ARE CHANGED AT THE
SPECIFIED INTERVALS.
Ask your supplier(s) of lubricants and fuels whether the products they supply comply with DAF BUS
INTERNATIONAL’s specifications.
Immediately remove any liquids coming into contact with the skin using soap and water.
OIL SPECIFICATIONS
ACEA E2 and E3
- mineral oil
ACEA E5
- a further development of ACEA E3 mineral oil,
tailored to the more stringent requirements
for Euro 3 engines, where relevant.
ACEA E4
- partially or entirely comprised of synthetic oil,
specially developed for extended oil-change intervals
and/or engines subjected to extreme loads.

ENGINE OIL
The temperature limits pertain to the ambient temperature, and should be regarded as indicative
limits.
Note:
A maximum oil-change interval of 5,000 km is applicable when ACEA E1 or E2 (or CCMC D4) engine
oil is used instead of the prescribed ACEA E3 (or CCMC D5) oil, irrespective of the sulphur content of
the fuel.

DIESEL-FUEL SPECIFICATIONS
Note:
Fuel additives are not permitted for Cummins ISBe engines.
Please refer to Table 1 in the “Fuels for Cummins Engines 3379001-05” bulletin for the fuel
specifications for Cummins engines.
Lubricant oils may not be added to diesel fuel for DAF BUS vehicles equipped with a CRT filter. The
use of diesel fuel containing lubricant oil will cause damage to the catalyser, in turn resulting in non-
compliance with the stipulated emission requirements.
The sulphur content of fuels used for DAF BUS vehicles that are not equipped with a CRT filter
may not exceed 0.2%.
ADDITIVES TO FUELS AND LUBRICANTS – OF ANY TYPE WHATSOEVER – MAY NOT BE USED
UNLESS IN THOSE CASES SPECIFIED BY DAF BUS INTERNATIONAL.
The fuel should possess a lubricative effect in accordance with the following requirement (lubricity
standard):
Test method: HFRR, in accordance with CEC-F-06-A96 standard
Test value: £ 460 mm

COOLANT SPECIFICATIONS
The cooling system must be filled with a ready-to use coolant containing antifreeze and anti-corrosion
additives.
Vehicles leaving the factory are filled with GLYCOSHELL SF, which has a red colour.
The standard use of GlycoShell SF is as a 1:1 dilution, i.e. 50% GlycoShell SF and 50% water, which
offers protection from freezing at temperatures down to minus (-) 42°C.
Only demineralised or mains water (which is in compliance with the specifications stated below) may
be used to top up systems filled with GlycoShell SF or an equivalent.
No other coolants, additives or antifreeze may be used to top up these systems; their use would result
in impairment of the protection from corrosion, deposits in the pipelines, and blockages!
Prior to the use of a different brand of coolant in systems filled with Glycoshell SF the system must be
drained entirely and flushed with water.
Note: When due regard is taken of all the requirements applicable to GlycoShell SF the coolant
may be used for up to 4 years and a maximum of 400,000 km before being replaced.
