THIRD PERFORMANCE TASK IN ENGLISH 10 – Q2

PIE CHART MAKING USING THE GIVEN DATA

How to make a pie chart

1. First, put your data into a table, then add up all the values to get a total:

Table: Favorite Type of Movie

Comedy Action Romance Drama SciFi TOTAL
4 5 6 1 4 20

2. Next, divide each value by the total and multiply by 100 to get a percent:

Comedy Action Romance Drama SciFi TOTAL

4 5 6 1 4 20
4/20 5/20 6/20 1/20 4/20
100%
= 20% = 25% = 30% = 5% = 20%

3. Now to figure out how many degrees for each "pie slice" (correctly called a sector).
4. A Full Circle has 360 degrees, so we do this calculation:

Comedy Action Romance Drama SciFi TOTAL

4 5 6 1 4 20
20% 25% 30% 5% 20% 100%
4/20 × 360° 5/20 × 360° 6/20 × 360° 1/20 × 360° 4/20 × 360°
360°
= 72° = 90° = 108° = 18° = 72°

5. Now you are ready to start drawing! Draw a circle. Then use your protractor to
measure the degrees of each sector.

Here I show the first sector ...

6. Finish up by coloring each sector and giving it a label like "Comedy: 4 (20%)",
etc. And dont forget a title!
7. The final output

Heres what to do
1. Using a short bondpaper create a pie chart using the given data below.
2. Follow the steps in making a pie chart above.

Data 1

Data 2

3. In making your pie chart show the process how did you come up your final output

Scoring method
1. Process following step 1 to step 5 = 20 points
2. Final output step 6 and step 7 = 15 points

This can be integrated in Math and Art subjects
