Calvin Joel, and champion teacher Mr.Ateere Patrick who have given me ideas and advice
during my participation in the internship sessions, for their tireless inputs, criticism, and advice
given to me during the whole period of facilitation and supervision during the internship period. I
would particularly like to mention my internship supervisor Mr. Ben Sorowen for his assistance
and kind comments during the whole process of doing internship and compilation of this report.

Many thanks goes to the school administration whose permission created a room for me to
conduct the internship at the organisation inperticular Headteacher Mr. Isele George. Other
members of the organisation I would like to thank include Mr.Oucha Jimmy Julious and Opus
Patrick for their singnifican contribution and support they gave to me making sure my internship
becomes a success.

My appreciation also goes to all those who contributed directly and indirectly to making this
internship possible. I would also like to express my thanks to my intern mates with whom I have

ABSTRACT

Industrial training for undergraduates in Ugandan tertiary institutions in and essential


requirements aimed to provide, hands- on experience and up to date information to the graduates
in preparation for the competitive job market. This industrial training was mainly centered on
laboratory practices. In this report are specific approaches used for obtaining data and areas of
experience gained. The main objectives of the training were achieved through observations,
explanations, consultations, and hands on practice. The data required was obtained from the
internet sources and direct verbal communications with the personnel`s in charge. The relation
between theories studied in class to the practical done in the lab is clearly described in the report
and in addition the key challenges were met as regard to motivation of trainees and acquisition
of sensitive information from the university.
CHALLENGES

Small space since the number of leaners are big need for an extension of the laboratory.

Poor communication from the teachers on when to conduct a practical.

Teachers and lab technicians are not facilitated for organizing a practical.

Apparatus are insufficient making work hard since more shifts of students.

Constant spoilage of lab apparatus like test tubes, glass beakers, pipettes.

It takes a lot of time for the leaners to understand.

Students get cuts from broken glass due to their carelessness.


INTRODUCTION

The internship placement is a requirement by kyambogo university aimed at enabling students


gain an experience of how to link classroom concepts into the working environment en –
campused with challenges, dynamics, technological advancements, professional ethics and sector
integration.

The filed attachment started on 9th may to 20th June 2022, this was the time I learnt both formaly
and informaly by practically taking part in the daily assigned activities at the organisation that I
put on record that is an experience worth to fume my working profession today and the days
coming.

Objectives of the practicm

To use or apply the knowledge and skill acquired during classroom teaching or trial basis.

To gain early understanding and appreciation of the real life situation challenges associated
with the application of the theoretical knowledge acquired.

To interact with and learn from experienced professionals in a work environment.

To participate and acquire early exposure to range of professionals activities associated


with my career focus and work place setting.

To obtain en hanced development and acquisition critical skills needed to proactively


observe and analyse proplems / challenges encountered while excecuting career duties and
responsibilities.

To develop expedited professional self awareness, internalization of career job


requirements and experiences.

To be able to write adetailed internship report after the internship period.

SCHOOL BACKGROUND

Akoromit ark peace high school is located along akore-abarilela road, two kilometers away from
akore trading center in kabelebyong district.it ws founded by peas and ark initially meaning
promoting icquality in African schools and absolute return for kids. The orgnisation has its
headquarters in united kingdom (U.K) and the founder is called john rendo.

The school started operating in 2013 with only oleval having three classes i.e s.1, s.2, s.3.it has
both dy and boarding section. In 2014, the candidate class was formed with 33 candidates, in
2015 a leval was established. The school is fully registered with ministry of education and sports
with the center u3067, registration number is pass/a/215.

Currently the school has both O and A leval offering both sciences and arts combinations to the
sudents e.g pem bcm leg hed and hld amog other. Also the has awell stocked library with enough
books to facilitate the teaching and learning process in the school and students have full access to
the books. There are also science laboratories and computer laboratory for practices and
computer studies respectively has the y are fully equipped with qualified tecnicians.
