DIFFICULTIES Before we proceed to our
next activity. Let us unlock
first some words that you
may encounter in our lesson.
1. Constellation- are group of
stars that forms pattern in
the sky
2. Pattern - a repeated
decorative design.
3. Astronomy - is the scientific
study of matter outside of
the atmosphere of the Earth
including stars, planets and
what they are made of and
how they move.
4. Star – a huge and luminous
ball of gas made up of
hydrogen and helium
Hemisphere - a half of the
earth, usually as divided into
northern and southern
halves by the equator.

E. ELABORATION
Background Knowledge for
Teachers
The International
Astronomical Union lists 88
constellations — a list that
has been in use since 1922
and encompasses all the
night sky around the world.
It was Ptolemy in the 2nd
century who identified and
listed 48 constellations. This
was the first written and
scientific account of the
constellations, and although
his notes only covered the
sky that he could see, it was
used for centuries as the
benchmark for astronomy. It
should be noted that many
of the constellations listed
also have Babylonian,
Egyptian, Roman
mythologies, and more.
What’s interesting is that
while the specific characters
in the stories may change,
the rough outlines and
shapes of the constellations
remained fairly similar
As I flash a picture of a
constellation on the screen,
you are going to identify and
write your answer on the
metacard. The 1st to give
the correct answer will gets

ACTIVITY: Group 1 and 3
GEOBOARD CONSTELLATIONS
Procedure:
1. Each group will connect the dots using rubber bands in the geoboard that represents each
constellation.
2. Follow the pattern of constellation as seen in the picture.
3. The group will then make up a story to explain how the imaginary animals or shapes got into
the sky
CONSTELLATIONS
1.
Guide Questions:
1. What is a constellation?
2. How do constellations look like?
3. What are the constellations you formed?
4. Are constellations important? Why?
ACTIVITY: Group 2 and 4
DRAWING CONSTELLATIONS
Procedure:
1. The group will draw constellations following the pattern of constellation as seen in the picture.
2. Color the stars as you start your pattern.
3. The group will then make up a story to explain how the imaginary animals or shapes got into
the sky

ACTIVITY: 5
POEM CONSTELLATIONS
Procedure:
1. The group will create a poem about constellations by answering questions found in the guide
questions.
2. Design their poem using constellations.
3. The group will then make up a story to explain how the imaginary animals or shapes got into
the sky
