NARRATIVE REPORT
CONTEXT
- Defined as the social, cultural, political, historical and other related circumstances that surround the text

HYPERTEXT
- Hypertext is a nonlinear way of showing information. It connects topics on a screen to related information, graphics,
videos, and music. It mainly appears on the "Internet" where highlighted words or buttons will lead the user to any
of a wide possibility of new sites related to the text to which it is linked.

INTERTEXT
- Intertextuality defined as comparing the meaning of a text by another text.
- It is the idea that a text exists because of another text or an event.

NARRATIVE REPORT
IDENTIFYING IMPLICIT AND EXPLICIT CLAIMS
EXPLICIT
- Refers to the ideas that are directly stated in the text.
ex. It's raining outside.
IMPLICIT
- Pertains to the ideas that are implied or suggested.
ex. The trees were swaying wildly outside Anne's window as she prepared for bed, and the gutters were overflowing.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLAIMS


CLAIM OF FACT
- It is a type of claim that can be verified as either true or false no matter how difficult it is.
ex. The only life in the universe exists on this planet
CLAIM OF VALUE
- Refers to evaluative statements that can be qualified. They assert which conditions are better, more important, or
more desirable.
ex. Eating vegetables is better than eating meat
CLAIM OF POLICY
- Refers to statements that espouse for a specific action to be taken as solution to a particular problem.This is
normally introduced by the modals "should", "must", or "ought to.".
ex. A dress code should be introduced for all public high schools
