The American era initiated with the cession of the Philippines to
the U.S. by Spain in 1898. The said Cession refers to the Treaty of
Paris signed by both the United States of America and Spain
which ended the Spanish-American war. The era ended after the
proclamation of Independence by the Philippines in 1946.
