Introducing Short Range Communication

 Wireless Short-Range Communication technologies with low cost, low power consumption and easy wiring
features are an important component of smart home systems.
 The smart home system architecture from the bottom to the top is: terminal sensing layer, wireless short-
range communication layer, wide area network layer and application layer of smart home.

Overview of SRC Technologies and Standards

 Bluetooth technology becomes more and more successful in applications of smart home.
• Bluetooth 5.0 brought additional speed and distance enhancement.
• The Mesh Profile is a many-to-many style of communication with provisions for message relay in BT 5.0.

8
Overview of SRC Technologies and Standards

 Bluetooth technology becomes more and more successful in applications of smart home.

9
Overview of SRC Technologies and Standards

 NFC technology becomes mature and acts as an important role in applications of smart home.

Application Scenarios of SRC for Smart Home

 Bluetooth Applicable Smart Home Scenarios

• With Bluetooth Low‐Energy (BLE) mesh wireless

communication technology, you don't have to
build a smart home by connecting a separate
hub.
• Bluetoth BLE mesh is a low‐power, wireless
networking option designed to connect each
BT Gateway device to every other device in a many‐to‐many
communication model.
• By extending the end‐to‐end communication
range beyond the radio range of each individual
device, this model enables the control and
monitoring of many connected devices.

13
Application Scenarios of SRC for Smart Home

 NFC Applicable Smart Home Scenarios

• NFC stands for Near Field Communication

over tiny distances of up to around 4
centimeters. NFC can be used in so many
different creative ways in smart home.

• NFC tags can act as an input to your

system just as a button would. They can
be "activated" by being scanned just the
same as a button would be pushed.
