Q WHY DO YOU WANT TO STUDY IN US ?
The US is the most popular destination for international students to study for higher education. Actually, nanomaterials are my area of research. It is an emerging field. Universities in the US are actively working on nanomaterials. I'm very interested in working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishaque Khan on his ongoing projects, which include work on material chemistry and nanomaterials. Also, A unique curriculum, a multicultural environment, and advanced nanomaterials labs are just a few of the reasons I want to study in the United States.
Q WHY THIS UNIVERSITY / WHY THIS PROFESSOR?
I chose Illinois Tech because of my supervisor's research on nanomaterials. I worked on nanocrystals during my master's degree, so I chose Professor Dr. Muhammad Ishaque Khan as my research interests are directly aligned with his. Furthermore, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ishaque Khan's research group collaborated with a network of major research universities, Argonne National Laboratories, and industry, so this is an incredible opportunity for me to work with talented researchers from all over the world. That research experience and advanced coursework at Illinois Tech will prepare me well for my future when I return to my home country.
Q WORK PLAN IN US?
I will work on nanoscale science and materials chemistry, with an emphasis on functional materials for applications in sensing, energy storage, biomedical usage, environmental cleanup, and industrial catalysis.
Q WHY CANT YOU CONTINUE YOUR EDUCATION IN YOUR HOME
COUNTRY? I have a bachelor's and master's degree from my home country, and one of my goals is to obtain a doctorate degree from a world-class institute such as Illinois Tech. Furthermore, because my research field of nanomaterials requires a lot of careful conditions, most advanced instruments are not yet available in Pakistan because it is a new field. So I chose the United States for my doctorate degree and will apply my knowledge and skills when I return to my home country.
Q FUNDING?
I received funding from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, which will cover my living expenses, stipend, and health insurance. I also received a tuition waiver from Illinois Tech. Additionally, Illinois Tech has offered me a graduate teaching assistantship.
Q HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE UNITED STATES BEFORE?
No, I have never visited a state before.

Q HOW MANY UNIVERSITIES DID YOU APPLY TO?
I applied to Binghamton University, Clark University, and North Carolina State University and got acceptance letters from all these Universities.
Q COMMITMENT TO COUNTRY? I signed a bond Document with the HEC government of Pakistan that I will serve Pakistan for five years after completion of my doctorate. I will work as an assistant professor at HEC-recognized Universities such as NUST, QAU, and LUMS.
