PART1 Interview

Task A Greetings & Introduction

For the record, can you please tell me your complete name and home
address?

Task B Providing Job-Related Information

Working as a pilot has probably given you some ideas about how aircraft can
be improved. What features would you suggest be included in the next
generation of aircraft?
PART2 Role Play

Task A Situation 1

Imagine you are the pilot of HL 5338. You are en route to your destination
when the controller calls you on the radio. Thunderstorms have been
detected in the area and your planned route takes you directly into the
center of the clouds. The controller wants you to deviate from your path in
order to avoid the clouds. Listen to the controller’s instructions and
respond as necessary.
Task B Situation 2

You are ready for departure and are awaiting instructions to taxi to the
runway from the general aviation area. After receiving taxi instructions you
encounter a deer on the taxiway. After receiving taxi instructions from the
controller, inform the controller of the situation and request assistance.
Task C Situation 3

You are en route to your destination airport and want to change to a higher
altitude in order to conserve fuel. There is another aircraft in the area with
a similar callsign, Delta Lima five three eight three.

Contact the controller and request a change to flight level 300. Then, listen
carefully to the controller’s response and respond as necessary.
PART3 Providing Information and Sharing Opinions

Task A Work-Related Situation

During a flight, a passenger discovers something wrong with the wing of the
aircraft you are flying. Upon inspection it looks as if the wing has suffered
some damage. What would you do in this situation?
Task B Presenting an Idea about a Picture

Look at the picture provided.


What do you think happened to the aircraft? How do you think it happened?
Task C Stating an Opinion

Some argue that aviation experts and airlines overreacted to the volcanic
eruption that occurred in Iceland in 2010. Many flights were canceled and
numerous airports in Europe were closed due to the incident. Do you think all
aircraft in the vicinity of a volcano and the resulting ash cloud should be
grounded when an eruption occurs?
