Part 1. Interview
Hi, my name is _______, and I’m your interviewer. How are you today?
For the record, can you please tell me your complete name and home address?
On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate aircraft safety in comparison to other forms of
transportation? Why?
Part 2. Role-Play
Note: The test taker’s callsign for all three sections is Hotel Lima six niner niner eight. The interviewer
should tell the test taker his/her callsign prior to starting.
Task A. Situation 1
Imagine you are currently holding short of the departure runway. A heavy jet has just departed
from the same runway and you would like to delay your takeoff due to wake turbulence
separation. The controller will be contacting you soon. Listen to the message then respond by
telling the controller about your intentions.
Look at the picture provided. You have 15 seconds to study the picture.
You are holding short of runway one five waiting for departure clearance. Listen to the
controller's instruction then make an appropriate response.
Task C. Situation 3
Imagine you experiencing light turbulence at flight level three three zero and you wish to find
out if flight level three seven zero is any better. Ask the controller if he has a ride report for
flight level three seven zero, then listen carefully to the controller’s response and respond as
necessary.
Part 3. Providing Information and Sharing Opinions
What would you do if you discovered a problem with your brakes on approach to land? Is there
anything you could request from the controller to help resolve the situation? Explain in detail.

do you think it happened?
Regulations are in place to prevent a pilot from flying after a certain number of hours on duty.
