Part 1. Interview

Task A. Greetings & Introduction

Hi, my name is _______, and I’m your interviewer. How are you today?

For the record, can you please tell me your complete name and home address?

Task B. P roviding Job-R elated Inform ation

If given the chance to work as an air traffic controller in a different country, which country
would you like to be assigned to and why?

Part 2. Role-Play

Note: The interviewer narrates the situation and plays the role of the pilot. The test taker is the
controller and responds to the situation and/or message.

Task A. Situation 1

Imagine you are working as a tower controller. The runway in use is runway one eight. Surface
wind is two zero zero at niner knots. QNH is one zero zero four hectopascals.

Uniform Charlie six zero seven zero is on approach to the active runway. Respond to the pilot's
message by giving him landing clearance and surface wind information.

Task B Situation 2 (P icture)

Look at the picture provided. You have 15 seconds to study the picture.

Delta Charlie three four zero seven is awaiting instructions from Ground to continue taxi to the
terminal. Listen to the pilot's message, then provide detailed taxi instructions using the red line
as a guide.

Task C. Situation 3

The active runway is runway one eight. Surface wind is two zero zero at niner knots. QNH
is one zero zero four hectopascals. Latest ATIS information code is Romeo.

Oscar Bravo eight zero two eight has requested departure information. Inform the pilot about
the runway in use, surface wind, and that the QNH has changed to one zero zero seven
hectopascals. Then, listen to the pilot’s message and respond as necessary.
Part 3. Providing Information and Sharing Opinions

Task A. Work-R elated Situation

Imagine a situation where a pilot calls you shortly after taking off. He reports a passenger is
suffering from a severe asthma attack and needs immediate medical attention. He wants to
return to the airport with priority landing. What would you do to help the pilot of the aircraft in
this situation? Explain in detail.

Task B. P resenting an Idea about a Picture

Look at the picture provided. You have 15 seconds to study the picture.

Briefly describe what you see in the photograph. What is occurring and how do you think it
happened?

Task C. Stating an Opinion

Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots can sometimes get into a disagreement about a particular
instruction given or about the way a situation is handled. What do you believe is the best way
to respond if a pilot insists you’re in the wrong? Justify your answer.
