The Troop Campfire

Every effective campfire will have the


following ingredients:

1. Opening Ceremonies – This should be


simple , short, creative and colorful.
2. Songs and Cheers – This should includes folk
songs, patriotic songs, spiritual songs, round
songs , mixed songs and action songs.

3. Stories – This includes mysteries,


adventure, biographies, folk tale and
legends.
Every effective campfire will have the
following ingredients:

4. Games – This should be based on inter –


patrol challenges or individual test of skill.
5. Dramatics – This should feature native or
modern dances, comedy skits, skills application,
folk traditions, cultural, nationalistic and spiritual

6. Recognition and Awards – This should include


advancement and merit badges, troop and patrol
ribbons and pennants, etc.
Every effective campfire will have the
following ingredients:

7. Information and Announcement - This


should include future Scout activities and
projects to be participated by the Troop
whether on a National, Regional, Council,
District or Institutional level.
8. Inspirational Message – Traditionally this if
given by the Troop Leader.
9. Closing Ceremonies – This must be short,
simple and solemn.
TYPES OF CAMPFIRE

1. Presentative – These are the most common


and make uses use of Patrol presentation in
forms of skits, demonstration and stunt .
2. Fellowship of Social – This has for it’s objective
the building of morale and the strengthens of friendship
and associations. This contains mostly group songs,
stunt, games and story telling.
3. Inspirational or Spiritual – These are the most
common and make uses use of Patrol presentation in
forms of skits, messages and ceremonial.
Campfires may further be classified
according to theme , thus:

1. Ideals Campfire – This focuses the


activities on the Fundamental Principles of
Scouting and the Scout Method.
2. Skills Campfire – The focus of activity is on the
demonstration of Scout Skills or the
Advancement requirement.
3. Ceremonial Campfires – These are
Commitment and Installation ceremonies done
by the campfire.
