Introduction to Mastercam Lathe
2
What can we do in Mastercam Lathe?
3
What
Toolpaths?
• Rough
• Face
• Finish
• Cutoff
• Groove

6
Creating Geometry
• Create the 2 dimensional drawing in the X and Z axis
• Only need to create half of the geometry
7
Stock Setup
• Stock Setup parameters let you set default information for the
current job
• This includes general information such as setting toolpath
configuration defaults, spindle and turret defaults,
determining tool offsets, and choosing lathe tools and
materials
8
Lathe Tooling – Drilling
– Boring
– Threading
– Grooving
9
Turning Tools
• Different styles to accommodate different
applications – roughing finishing, profiling
10
Turning Tool Inserts
Different types to accommodate different materials
11
Drilling – Types of Drills

Cutoff Toolpaths
• Cutoff Toolpaths
vertically cut off pieces
of the part, such as
sections of bar stock
• You select the point
where the part is cut
off
16
Parting Off - Grooving
• There are three categories of lathe grooves you can choose
from in Mastercam
• These are: standard, canned, and quick. Standard grooves let
you create grooves defined by one point, two points, three
lines, and an inner/outer boundary
