This document discusses separation minima for departing aircraft at airports. It outlines requirements such as providing one minute separation if aircraft diverge by 45 degrees immediately after takeoff to ensure lateral separation. For arriving and departing aircraft, a departing aircraft can take off until an arriving aircraft starts its procedure or base turn leading to final approach. Two minutes of separation is required between takeoffs if the preceding aircraft is 40 knots or faster and both will follow the same track. Separation minima can be reduced if continuous visual contact is maintained by air traffic controllers or flight crews. The document also addresses wake turbulence separation minima and using ASMGCS surveillance systems to augment visual observation.

RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata
SEPARATION One-minute separation if aircraft are to fly on tracks diverging by at least 45 degrees immediately after take-off so that lateral separation is provided
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 2
Separation of departing aircraft from arriving aircraft If an arriving aircraft is making a complete instrument approach, a departing aircraft may take off: a) in any direction until an arriving aircraft has started its procedure turn or base turn leading to final approach
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 3
SEPARATION Two minutes between take-offs when the preceding aircraft is 40 kt or more faster than the following aircraft and both aircraft propose to follow the same track
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 4
Departing aircraft will be identified within 1 NM from the end of the runway, and that, at the time, the required separation will exist
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 5
REDUCTION IN SEPARATION MINIMA IN THE VICINITY OF AERODROMES The separation minima detailed in Chapter 5, 5.4 (Vertical).and 5.5,(Horizontal) may be reduced in the vicinity of aerodromes if: a) adequate separation can be provided by the aerodrome controller when each aircraft is continuously visible to this controller; or b) each aircraft is continuously visible to flight crews of the other aircraft concerned and the pilots thereof report that they can maintain their own separation; or c) in the case of one aircraft following another, the flight crew of the succeeding aircraft reports that the other aircraft is in sight and separation can be maintained. RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 6 Separation of departing aircraft Except as provided in Chapter 5 section 5.9 (Wake turbulence) a departing aircraft will not normally be permitted to commence take-off until the preceding departing aircraft has crossed the end of the runway-in-use or has started a turn
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 7
SEPARATION MATS 2 17.6.2 :When Tower controller can maintain visual contact with both the aircraft, the second aircraft can be released (in coordination with TAR) provided Tower controller can ensure adequate separation
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 8
SEPARATION 17.6.4 Restrict the ROC of succeeding aircraft 17.6.5 If not agreed as above, release the succeeding aircraft to a height 1000' below

VISUAL SURVEILLANCE (MATS1) Watch shall be maintained by visual observation, augmented in low visibility conditions by an ATS surveillance system when available.
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 12
ASMGCS ASMGCS should be used to augment visual observation of traffic on the manoeuvring area and to provide surveillance of traffic on those parts of the manoeuvring area which cannot be observed visually. LEVEL 1 Improved surveillance LEVEL 2 Surveillance + Safety nets Level 3 Conflict detection Level 4 Conflict Resolution , Automatic Planning and Guidance RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 13 VISUAL SURVEILLANCE The ASMCGCS system shall be used only for Level-One operation as below: 1) The primary mode of surveillance shall continue to be visual, complemented by Pilot reports. 2) The ASMGCS tracks on TRADIS can be used as supplementary information.

LEAST AVERAGE DELAY (MATS2) 12.14.1.3 Sequence of departures shall be decided by ATC based on the position and readiness of aircraft approaching the entry point of Runway
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 15
LEAST AVERAGE DELAY (MATS1) 6.3.3.2 If departures are delayed, the delayed flights shall normally be cleared in an order based on their estimated time of departure, except : a) facilitate the maximum number of departures with the least average delay; b) accommodate requests by an operator to the extent practicable.
RTC - ATM, NSCBI Airport , Kolkata 16
LEAST AVERAGE DELAY (MATS1) 7.9.1.1, departure sequence shall not be determined on start-up request time. 7.9.1.2 Departures shall normally be cleared in the order in which they are ready for take-off, except to facilitate the maximum number of departures with the least average delay

Questionnaire 1. Separation between departing medium aircraft followed by a light aircraft from intersection “C” ? 2. Separation between departing medium aircraft from “K” followed by light aircraft from “A”? 3. Two successive medium departure for VOBG from “K” How would separate? 4. “Departure sequence shall be decided based on estimated time of departure.” Do you agree? 5.
