ABSTRACT

• A network design proposal for a 3 star hotel with the following infrastructure
and networking requirements.
HOTEL INFRASTRUCTURE

• The hotel has 15 floors with 10 rooms in each floor

• The hotel has a lobby area.
• The hotel has a swimming pool area.
• ADSL Internet is available for the hotel.
NETWORKING REQUIREMENT
• All the rooms should have computers installed.
• The computers in all the rooms should have internet connection.
• The swimming pool area and lobby should have wireless internet access.
• The guests in the rooms should have free internet access.
• The computers should have appropriate security software installed.
• The hotel management staff and the guests should be on different networks.
• There are 15 users in the hotel management who require computers.
• A hotel management server needs to be set up for the hotel management staff which should not
be accessible by the guests.
• The wireless access in the lobby and swimming pool area should be secure.
INTRODUCTION

• A wi-fi has become one of the most basic necessity in a house, café, office
etc.
• Wi-Fi is a family of wireless network protocols, which are commonly used
for local area networking of devices and Internet access.
• This connection is mainly setup with the help of devices called modems or
routers.
• Wireless routers are the most commonly used devices and our project is to
setup a wi-fi router for a house.
LITERATURE SURVEY

• Since the early days of dial-up, the internet has revolutionized the way we live. Unlike our
pre-internet days, being connected allowed us to access the world at the touch of a button.
• One of the more notable changes of the post-internet era was the way people chose to
communicate with one another. Those with access to an internet connection were able to
instantly chat or email their family, friends, and pen pals across the globe.
• The next logical step in improving the internet experience was to make it more accessible in
homes, workplaces, and the public, this is when Wi-Fi came into play.
LITERATURE SURVEY

• As the way we use the Wi-Fi was continuously developed the we developed as a society too
for e.g. Social media has helped in raising awareness and faster communication across the
globe.
• The continuous and ever growing demand for easier access and faster connection the
network has introduces us to the worlds of 2G,3G,4G and now the 5G.
• To support the demand the growth of technology in this field has been exponential with
journey from twisted pair cable to optical fiber cable for faster data speeds.
LITERATURE SURVEY

• The evolution of Wi-Fi router has come a long way as well from 802.11b first generation
Wi-Fi to the sixth generation Wi-Fi 802.11ax.
• With the current development there is also the implementation of IoT in the network this
application converts normal appliances such as a T.V, A.C etc. to smart appliances i.e. being
able to access the internet.
• The potential for development for the Wi-Fi is still humongous with the future
implementation of new generation wifi7 and development of web3.0 the wireless network be
it for home or global network will be a huge backbone to the development of other
technologies.
ARCHITECTURE/DESIGN
• The project will have a LAN(local area network) which is preferable for a home setup.
• It will use the following components:-
1)P.C’s-The basic component in a network the pc’s will be
connected to the network.
2)Router-The router will connect the individual devices in the
same network with the use of wires.
3)Wireless router- It is a device that performs
the functions of a router and also includes the
functions of a wireless access point.
4)switch- It is a networking hardware that connects devices on a computer network by using packet
switching to receive and forward data to the destination device.
IMPLEMENTATION

• We use the LAN topology with client to server connection to connect the
devices to the internet with the use of wireless router.
• The pc will be connected to the switch using fast ethernet ports using copper
straight through cable.
• The switch will be connected to the router using a copper straight through
cable through the fast ethernet port to the gigabit port.
• Two routers will be connected using copper cross over cable in the gigabit port.
IMPLEMENTATION

• All the devices will be setup logically using the addressing tables.
• The Wi-Fi router will be setup using the internet tab and the physical tab to
accommodate all the components in 2.4 ghz frequency.
• The ending topology will result in physically and logically connected local
network.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

• The pcs were connected to each other physically and logically which was
verified with the ping command.
• The router is connected to the pc physically and logically.
• The simulation check returns successful when parsing a message between
two devices.
CONCLUSION

• A network design proposal was successfully made for a 3 star hotel using
wireless router.
