Being an actor keeps me sane. Yeah I have to work a day job but know what? When my day job is stressful and I want to scream I get to go hey wait. I have a scream scheduled at 7:30 tonight. Gotta save up. And then I go back to what I was doing.

EVEN MORE Random Dead Poets Headcanons

i’m jonesin for some dead poets content real bad without putting myself through the tragedy that is the movie so why not create the content myself

  • while neil as an only child makes so much sense, i can see him having a little sister, who he loves very much. he’s very protective over her and is the best big brother in the world :,)
  • i feel like we should also get into the family numbers for each poets cause except for todd, no one mentions having siblings but i feel like with maybe the exception of cameron and charlie, none of them are only children
  • pitts: only boy in a family full of girls. he has three sisters.
  • meeks: a nutty nutty part of me wants to say meeks was a twin but then he absorbed his twin in the womb. imagine two meeks’. crazy.
  • knox: he has an older sister. i see her being engaged or married by the time knox is a junior in high school
  • meeks likes to sit outside when he gets stressed. as technology focused as he is, getting back in touch with nature (or quite literally, touching grass) is incredibly important to him
  • charlie is a grandma’s boy . her name is carol and shes the coolest lady alive in charlie’s eyes. she chainsmokes, drinks tough, and spoils him rotten (carol has lore, she has been around the BLOCK)
  • meeks has an eccentric pet situation at home. he’s got a turtle, two gerbils, a lizard, a ferret, five fish, and a guinea pig. they’re all named after important scientists and/or historical figures.
  • ^^the turtle’s name is darwin, the lizard is newton (HA), the guinea pig is pavlov (meeks doesnt have a dog but since the dogs WERE the guinea pigs in that experiment, he feels that’s close enough), the ferret is faraday, the gerbils are marie and pierre curie, and the fish are einstein, franklin, galileo, copernicus, and kepler. fucking nerd (affectionate)
  • pitts is a comic book nerd. anytime welton students are allowed free time off campus, he goes straight to wherever he can find the comics. i think he’s a marvel comics nerd (which at that time was known as atlas comics, fun fact. it became known as marvel comics in 1961)
  • charlie and neil had planned to travel across the world after graduation. they were gonna go backpacking in the mountains in switzerland, smoke in french clubs, drink italian wine, the lot. charlie abandons these specific plans after neil’s death but travels around the world whenever he can
  • i dont think cameron let himself really be happy after the events of junior year. he’s the type of person who expects something bad to happen after a long streak of happiness. so he never lets his guard down like that again. he knows what he did alienated the rest of the group and it really does hurt him but he doesn’t let it show
  • neil has a cat. he has a proper name but like any reasonable cat owner, he calls him anything but. the nicknames range from sweet things like “little man” to crazy things like “stinky rat bastard” somebody give this cat a government name (i couldnt think of anything, naming meeks’ pets took all my brain power)
  • pitts has the miraculous ability to fall asleep anywhere. classroom? sleeping. cafeteria? dead to the world. a really noisy restaurant? he’s honk shooing.
  • neil and todd both wear mouth guards to sleep. todd is a teeth grinder and neil’s jaw doesn’t sit right when he lays in bed (i am projecting on neil as i am currently lying in bed with a mouth guard for my jaw)
  • meeks is really into gladiators. like he knows everything about them.
  • charlie makes fun of people who sleep with their socks on. cameron sleeps with his socks on.
  • knox talks in his sleep. its actually quite frightening.
  • “no, get out of the corner.” “knox. who is in this corner.”
  • pitts’ lips are always bleeding cause he’s always chewing the skin off of them. he’s a lip biter who always loses chapstick too.
  • todd had a lisp growing up
  • out of all of them, knox is the best kisser. the worst? its a tie between meeks and cameron.

i don’t know why but i’m really amused by the winner of some ‘new kanji’ contest:

compare with the real kanji

座 (seat/gathering), but the two 人 (person) radicals have been moved from next to each other within the 土 (earth) radical to diagonally from each other, making this “social distance(d seating/gathering)”

This is hilarious, but to further the hilarity, I’d like to point to the fact that half of the “A rank” (runners up) for this contest also are related to 2020 epidemic jokes

First up we have:

Compare with 太

The original kanji means “to gain weight”. But it adds the コ “ko” and ロ  “ro” katakana symbols at the top to represent the weight you gain while staying home due to the corona virus.

Then we have:

Compare with 会 

The original kanjij means “meeting”, but the lower radical is changed to look more like a “Z” to represent Zoom meetings. Thus, the new kanji means “web meetings” or “zoom calls”

And of course another social distancing one:

Compare with 話 

This means “to talk” or “chat”, but it’s changed simply to show the two radicals social distancing from one another as we should also while holding conversations nowadays.

At least we can have some fun language humor despite all of this!

Fun fact those dry markers were supposed to have water put into them to make them work. You take off the bottom thing and pour water in and bam, instant marker success. Only learned about this four years after I’d lost my set 🙃

I am the primary provider of two disabled people, while being disabled myself. We are getting over mono. One member of the household, Amy, has lymphoma. The process of seeking diagnosis and treatment has already taken 5 months, almost 10 biopsies, and she's in surgery now getting another biopsy and a mass removed.

We do not currently have all we need for her recovery. We also need to replace our washer so that we can have clean clothes and bedding through her chemo. We don't even know how we are going to afford the chemo itself right now. All of this is wildly urgent. Her doctors are saying that she could be starting chemo before she's even fully recovered from surgery.

In total, I expect us to need about 2k to just barely get through the month. That could change, frankly, things have been changing very fast daily, it has been hell.
