CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!

I've been to this park many times and I'm only JUST NOW noticing there's what looks like two god damn albino trees

Look at them!!!!

I haven't been able to find any photos of albino plants getting to this size and they seem to still have a mild amount of pigmentation on the leaves interestingly

I'm no plant expert so there might be something else going on here but the same plant species right next to these ones absolutely does not look like this

If any plant people know what's up with this or would like to add more info feel free :)

also i shouldnt be made fun of for calling it the clotheswasher instead of the washer because i forgot how the english language worked and my brain defaulted to the language pattern for dishwasher. english is an absolute slut of a language i should be able to edge it however i like

I love personalization. I love stickers on water bottles and on laptops. I love shitty marker drawing on the toes of converse. I love hand embroidered doodles on jeans. I love posters on walls. I love knick knacks on shelves. I love jewelry with goofy charms. I love when people take things and make them theirs.

just saw someone say "crazy how there's no landback movement in Australia". yeah that would be crazy. good thing it isn't true! you can find this out by googling "landback australia". or by looking at the following:

there is actually a pretty significant Indigenous land rights movement here in Australia. the language of "landback" is not always used because it was pretty thoroughly demonised by the Howard government (see: "they're going to steal your backyard"). for more on land rights:

these are both starting points rather than completely comprehensive guides or anything. but maybe do even five seconds of googling before making assertions about what political movements do and don't exist

semi-relatedly. a lot of well-meaning non-Australians often ask things like "I've started calling NZ 'Aotearoa'. is there an equivalent for Australia?". to quote AIATSIS, "there are more than 250 Indigenous languages including 800 dialects". the way we understand Australia as one single country is not the way Australia was pre-colonialism. there's not a singular equivalent name for Australia because there was not one singular country! instead, it's best practice to refer to specific countries (such as Naarm for Melbourne) where possible, and "the land now known as Australia" otherwise

ok the game key card thing is stupid but people are freaking out about them thinking that they're replacing game cards entirely when they're not. i don't think it's much different than some games being digital-only, which was already happening.

it IS stupid though, and nintendo is clearly trying to push for a move to digital- but posts about the game key cards are being passed around without context, and getting people to think that ALL the game cards are game key cards, which isn't what's happening. note how the switch 2 direct bragged about the upgraded file transfer speeds of their new carts.

I love movies where the plot takes place in less than a day. It’s like. What if these people were experiencing the worst 8 hours of the entire lives and you got to see the highlight reel?

Today I cried a little bit because I remembered that when Beethoven conducted his ninth symphony for the first time he got a standing ovation and one of the sopranos had to turn him around to see the audience.

I have never recovered from this illustration by Scott Cameron for Barbara Nichol’s “Beethoven Lives Upstairs.”

😭😭😭

This penguin is another victim of the trade war.

The American president recently expanded his tariffs to include Heard Island and McDonald Islands, an Australian territory. The only residents are penguins.

The penguins have not responded with a comment on the new 10% tariffs hitting their habitat. They waddle along unconcerned, possibly because they import very little fish from the US.

Me: "Welcome home, honey! Hope you had a good day!"

My robotgirl girlfriend who communicates in classic YTP soundbites: "I wonder what's for DINNER?"

Me: "I was hoping we could go grab a bite. Maybe Italian?"

My robotgirl girlfriend who communicates in classic YTP soundbites: "I HOPE SHE MADE LOTSA SPAGHETTI"
