Archaeologist problems: can't heckle a guy to give you his full citation data when he's been dead for 14 years.
the thing is people often talk about how minecraft steve is the most whitewashed character since jesus christ but never does anyone discuss how they’re perhaps the most misgendered character ever
steve (alongside all the other default skins, for that matter) are referred to with they/them and with gender-neutral language by the developers!
i think the most interesting part is that steve (and the others, mostly alex) are constantly misgendered by not just fans, but official minecraft content itself. merch, social media posts, etc will often refer to steve with he/him, and alex with she/her, although sometimes they seem to omit pronouns entirely. the developers, though, have seen them as genderless since basically the beginning
before notch became who he is today, he posted about gender in minecraft, ending it with:
and in an interview with lydia williams, she talks about how she was corrected on steve’s gender (presumably by her coworkers at the time):
and again, in the latest skin-related video, both steve and sunny are referred to solely with they/them. the developers seem pretty set and comfortable with the genderless nature of the player characters, which makes it really confusing as to why the rest of the branding ignores that fact entirely
yeah, he sure is
Guys for fuck's sake he took himself out of the group chat because he is a) aware that he does not have security clearance to see what they were discussing b) aware that they will use this fact to prosecute him/go after other people at his magazine. Sometimes, someone's opinion on Zionism is not actually relevant to the specific deeply insane news story they accidentally got bundled into that in a sane world would see everyone else in the group chat fired and arrested for treason, and bringing it up as it it's a mitigating factor is just being conspiratorial about da joos. You can dislike or even hate this person without doing a pepe silvia board that makes the most consequential opsec failure of the past eighty years a, what. I'm not even sure what's going on here. Is this a Mossad plot? Is that what's being claimed?
If he valued the lives of people in general he would have revealed all the intel so Yemini civilians could take shelter ahead of the attacks. But he doesn't, probably because he thinks the lives of Arabic people aren't worth anything.
Did none of you read the article????
He states:
- He thought the group he had been added to was a weird, sophisticated hoax for the first week he was in it
- When he started having suspicions it was real, he could not prove that this group was real or really had these individuals in it
- He did not receive any specifics about anything until 2 hours before the bombings happened
- He could not prove anything was going to happen before then but made sure that he was refreshing X/news sites to see if it was real - when he had that information, he left and immediately started contacting people to confirm the story
There is no way that an individual reporter would have been able to stop an illegal clandestine military operation by a very racist and hostile administration with two hours' notice. I know you want to be mad at him because you don't understand how real life works, but to act like this is a spiteful anti-Arab move on the part of Goldberg, who whatever you think of him is also quite often a critic of Israel, is straight up Qanon behavior. It's actually really impressive that this article came out within 10 days of this happening, because the Atlantic's lawyers must have been on every single word.
I don't know why you are blaming the whistleblower and not the very racist administration ordering these bombings (well, I do, but you're going to get mad if I say why).
Yeah sure I definitely believe that the fog of criticism that has popped up around this whistleblower who publicized an enormously harmful story to the Trump administration and its illegal actions overseas -- straining to redirect the conversation entirely to the personal flaws of how This One Guy Sucks and should totally be assassinated by the Trump administration for his evilness -- is absolutely genuine and organic.
I mean it's weird that these comments say exactly the same things as the MAGAts who are screaming that the dude is a traitor to America who should be shot on the grounds of being insufficiently loyal to The Leader, but I'm sure that's just a wild coincidence!

[Image description: There are five images, all screenshots of tags and replies on this post. The first is tags in all caps that read, "prev tags?! are you okay?" The second image is the prev tags mentioned, and reads, "me watching two hours worth of cars 3 interviews with brian fee so i can find a concrete source for lightning mcqueens age. btw on that note there's canonically a 20 year age gap between mcqueen and mater. in the first movie mcqueen is 29 and mater is 49. stan materfred its less problematic." The third image is tags in response to the previous image that read, "prev what. what. mater is. 49?? he's what?? he. was older than my dad when i first watched the movie? what??" The fourth image is tags in response again, and it reads, "prev in the credits of cars 2 we see maters passport including his DOB. his birthday is the same as john lasseters. 12 jan 1957. as i write this in 2022 john lasseter is 65. thus. mater is a gilf." The fifth image is a reply that reads, "mater is a gilf." End description]
[Image ID: It is a wojak meme, showing a man, who has the Wojak face, standing in the corner of a party, while smiling couples dance around him. Above the Couples' heads text reads, "Mater's 49????" And "Gilf Mater." Above the Wojak man's head, Text reads, "They don't know Materfred is the ship name for Mater and Manfred Von Karma" END ID]
[Image ID: A screenshot of a google search of "Manfred Von Karma", showing he's a white haired kinda "has fun being evil" looking man, the first result being his Ace Attorney wiki page. Hes a prosecutor. END ID]

that moment when you cross the point of no return with a character should be accompanied by a specific chime i think. like 🔔 congratulations! this one has been installed in the Permanent Collection and you will never stop thinking about them as long as you live
honestly sometimes stories where characters have self awareness and solve their problems maturely can be really refreshing sometimes. and sometimes it feels like therapyspeak slop. intense stories where no one is capable of understanding themselves and act out in incorrect ways can be very fun. and sometimes it feels like contrived bullshit. whatever makes "a good story" is harder to make happen than just using the right kind of characters using the right words
