I love how Rick Riordan has become the anti JK Rowling in terms of majorly influential children’s book author depicting diversity in their books. While JK is a TERF and loves to make everything about herself, Uncle Rick makes characters based off of his students and to help represent those who aren’t often depicted in books or media of any sort. I know he’s not perfect but he’s better than granny billionaire playing victim by a long shot.

oh for sure. this ^^ because JK Rowling made half an effort on diversity. rick has his faults but you cannot tell me you prefer that transphobic old woman over a silly guy like him.

percy had an 'im a big three son' moment when he choked a goddess with her own saliva (controlling a fluid that was INSIDE her body) annabeth was terrified.

nico had an 'im a big three son' moment when he disembodied bryce lawrence (quite literally dissipating and shrinking his LIVING soul into a spirit) and threw him to the underworld, smashing his zombie warriors. reyna was terrified.

yet we were robbed of jason's 'im a big three son' moment where he sucks the air out of someone's lungs and makes them stop breathing, or damaging a person's nervous system with his lightning control, and literally cause internal bleeding, or a damaged/fried skull if he electrocuted hard enough (look up the effects of lightning damage on body y'all will get a whole list, tbh he doesn't even need lightning to do any of this, air control is more than enough since air takes charge of everything going inside the body, but this is just an added effect.) he could give people STROKES if he wanted to. he's the literal definition of burnt out kid who was suppressed from discovering the magnitude of his abilities, because one, his dad's ego wouldn't be able to handle it, two, because he, for some reason, can't be allowed to do anything other than get knocked out :/

also adding on, hardcore pjo fans know that after the ending page of boo, there's this fan story that rick chose to publish in the last few pages of the book where a fan reimagines the ending of hoo, in that work, annabeth collapses from an attack and percy sobs clutching her body. jason calmly asks him to step aside, and kneels before annabeth, jason regulates her breathing using his wind/lightning powers and brings annabeth back fully from her cardiac arrest, causing percy to be relieved. (I wanted to link the pics of the pages here so bad but I didn't have the hard copy of the book with me, and this isn't available anywhere online either, only in the original covers of boo uk and us version, so I edited this post and asked people to reblog this post w the pics if they have the hardcopy, and a kind blogger found the story I'm talking about and reblogged the pictures of the pages, you can check my reblogs of this post for the pictures of the almost all the pages after this scene) considering rick approved and even liked the fan's work well enough to publish it in the official boo book, I'd say rick was aware and never completely ruled out expanding jason's abilities and had them in mind, he simply didn't incorporate it into the books. (also W fan for giving jason the rep he deserves, I will always remember you, you saw the VISION before any of us did, the story was very well written, with great dialogue.)

i had the thought, okay. i love nico di angelo's name so much. like. what do you mean? what do you mean this man's name literally translates to victory of angels? what do you mean this man is walking poetry? who let him do this?

and then this fuelled me to look up the meaning of bianca's name and? it's not any better? bianca means white. it made me giggle at first but then i looked further and. oh my gods. her name is also associated with purity. like. the hunters. even further, her name is associated with winter, which was when she joined the hunters and followed them to her DEATH. and how fucking painful is that? that her very fate was placed upon her since her birth? a ticking time bomb, an inescapable destiny looming over her, and she didn't even know?

and where is the justice? why does nico get such a gorgeous name, and she gets a curse? i love you bianca di angelo you deserved so much better.

A while back I’ve been seeing this meme floating around so I wanted to give it a go. Mainly because it made me think of Percy and Annabeth.

jason's handwriting is completely illegible, no curves, he's missing a whole ass 4 letters so he can't even spell his name right (he spells it "IASON C-RACE), and the only reason his signature works is because it's so unusual no one can copy it. the closest anyone has gotten is leo, who was running off of 2 hours of sleep, diet coke, and sheer fucking force of will at the time.

jason "what's a zero?" grace (those were invented after the roman empire). jason except he has no clue what g, j, u, or w are. jason except he's really smart in select subjects and quite literally the dumbest man alive in others. he only uses roman numerals for a while and eventually switches to the regular 10 digit thing after enough time with piper and leo.

he can't read english. he simply cant. he knows caesar cipher and morse code and latin but he can't read english. he speaks with a thick latin accent and it gets worse when he's upset. we were robbed of jason actually using proper latin. he should have been cursing in his mother tongue. give this bastard an accent im begging you rick he should have one.

no one can make me believe that jason and reyna spoke in ENGLISH w eachother lol they're both latin freaks and discussed fully in latin that it became a lil awkward when they'd spoke english to one another (which is my imagined justification as to why they both found it soo difficult to connect after he became greek-ish, and why reyna was so put off by how unroman he became)

“jason is so cold and inconsiderate” his natural instinct when he found out nico was staying at camp was to hug him tightly but he restrained himself because nico mentioned to jason ONCE that he doesn't like being touched. consent KING

Been reading about 1930's Italy for a fic then something something back then, boys Nico's age were trained to become soldiers, pledge their loyalty and all that.

It got me to thinking that MAYBE part of the reason why Nico likes Mythomagic so much is because something in him remembers how it felt to strategize and to win. Something like the thrill of observing and finding your enemies' weak points and knowing exactly when and where and how to attack.

That's it. That's my brainrot.

The fact that Jason was never actually at the Wilderness School with Piper and Leo is so much funnier when you think that he’s like 90% of the trio’s impulse control.

Like you have to assume they have conversations like,

Leo: Remember that time we nearly blew up a classroom then Jason stopped us

Piper: Hahah yeah that was crazy. Wait- Jason was never there

Leo: Oh shit! We actually blew up a classroom!
