Chapter 2
“Hello Jaemin, nice to see you too! How have you been? I have been good,” Serenity puts up a show, probably just because he didn’t sit with them during the lecture. Jaemin just snickers and then decides to play along. Explaining that he has been good as well, but just didn’t have the time to move his seat next to you and that he is very sorry. The four of them are walking towards the cafeteria again. “No problem, but what did you say just earlier. Are you guys finally going to your house Jaemin? You are finally introducing her to your big weird family?” Serenity wonders, sitting down at a table and opening up her backpack to get her lunch.
“Yes! I am so excited for Mariposa to finally meet my family. Today is the big day!”
“Guys, have fun! I am going to the library to study some more. Mari, keep me updated on how things are going tonight! I am curious to know more about Jaemin’s weird family tree,” Precious jokes, stealing a few pistachio’s from Serenity’s lunchbox and running away towards the library. All three of them have always heard Jaemin talk about all of his brothers. There were so many that they didn’t understand how Jaemin’s family tree would work, but now that Jaemin told her about his other life Mariposa finally understands. The brothers he talked about were not related to him. As Precious runs towards the library Serenity tries to follow her, but quickly gives up as she notices the distance between them.
“We actually need to go, so enjoy your lunch Serenity. See you tomorrow!” Jaemin says, putting an arm around Mariposa and turning around. Mari turns her head around and yells goodbye to Serenity. Off they go, while Serenity quietly eats her lunch. Jaemin walks Mariposa towards the parking lot. Jaemin doesn’t have a driver’s license, so she is a bit confused as to why they would go here. “Kun is picking us up, so we don’t have to go with public transportation,” Jaemin explains while a big grey SUV enters the parking lot. “that must be him!”
The car stops right before the duo and the window at the passenger’s seat rolls down. “Your chauffeur is here,” the man behind the wheel jokes. Jaemin opens the backdoor and lets Mariposa go in first. Like a real gentlemen, she thinks. How can the Jaemin she knows be in the mafia? “Hello, my name is Kun. Who are you?” Kun questions Mariposa immediately as she sits down. But before she can answer, Jaemin tells him her name and that she will join the dinner. “You know the girls have their monthly dinner tonight?” Kun asks Jaemin while driving off.
“No, really? It is finally happening again? They will want Mari to join, right?” Jaemin rambles on. Focused on the road Kun just answers with a single yes. “So Mari, do you maybe want to have dinner with all the women of the family? It is just something they try to host every month. They always speak very highly of it, but you don’t have to join.” Kun just agrees with whatever Jaemin is talking about.
“But was I not supposed to meet your brothers?” Mariposa asks confused. Jaemin nods and then explains to her, that they can meet his brothers in the afternoon, dinner is not needed to meet them. He also continues to explain that the girls dinner is a somewhat sacred tradition, meaning they wouldn’t be able to have dinner together anyway, because the dining area is being used by the girls of the family.
“Now that Jaemin has somewhat explained that to you. You can start telling me how your class went.” Kun tries to get more information from the girl. All the Neos know about some girl that is Jaemin’s girlfriend, but to be completely honest, Kun always thought it was for the undercover story and not really someone Jaemin had feelings for. But here she is, in his car, on their way to the Neo mansion.
After driving some more, they pick up two other boys as well, as they get into the car they introduce themselves as Jeno and Yangyang. Yangyang is the hyperactive boy with pink hair, while Jeno is more quiet and has white hair. Jeno sits next to Jaemin on the backseat, while Yangyang sits on the passenger’s side. The whole route to the house, Yangyang talks about his classes and why the teacher was mad at him. With him talking so much, Mariposa starts to understand this teacher a bit better. He literally never shuts up. Jeno on the other hand was very quiet, not talking much. Just sometimes laughing at whatever Jaemin was saying.
After a while a big house arises on the horizon. Mari is in awe of the size of the building, she never expected the place to be this big. “So everyone, we are here. Jeno, Yangyang you can go already. See you later. Jaemin, we need to talk.” Kun starts as everyone wants to leave the car. Jeno and Yangyang just run off, while Mariposa stays seated, grabbing Jaemin’s hand a bit nervous for what’s about to happen. “I will tell Taeyong about your impulsive decision, but you have to face Mark by yourself. Which I guess will be pretty soon, since Jeno and Yangyang know about it. Mariposa, if you have any questions about anything, don’t hesitate to ask them to me. Jaemin will probably show you around quickly. Afterwards you can join me in the kitchen if you want,” Kun explains and then leaves the car. Jaemin takes this as a sign to also leave the car, which Mariposa follows. Still holding each other’s hands, the duo walks towards the front door of the building.
“Don’t worry about a thing”
As they open the main entrance, another man is waiting. “Jaemin. Office. Now.” Jaemin just quietly nods and let’s go of Mariposa’s hand. He whispers that she should find Kun, he will be in the kitchen. Mariposa just looks around bewildered. She has no clue which way is towards the kitchen. The big hallway she just entered has two corridors, one to the left and one to the right, with a big dramatic staircase in the middle. It looks like the right hallway leads towards the garage, so Mariposa chooses the left hallway.
Finally another chapter! I might have forgotten to update this story, sorry! I will try to post more frequently :)
