Stubb hosts Stoltenberg on 2-day visit to Finland

The president welcomed the Nato chief with a hug at his official residence, Mäntyniemi.

Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg began a two-day visit to Finland on Wednesday evening at the invitation of President Alexander Stubb. The president welcomed the Nato chief with a hug and a greeting in Swedish.

On Wednesday evening, Stubb was to host a dinner at his official residence, Mäntyniemi in the Munkkiniemi district, with guests including Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (NCP).

On Thursday, Stubb and Stoltenberg are scheduled to visit the Defence Command, where they will meet with the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola. During his visit, Stoltenberg will also meet Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, and Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (both NCP).

Stoltenberg and Stubb will also hold a joint press conference on Thursday. The Norwegian Nato secretary's decade-long term is set to end in October.
