i pray for you that He'll make you well and give you the strength that you need to face life's uncertainties

i pray for all of you.
Everyone of you.

Invisible colours

Met up with an ex-teacher and teacher from TCF today and they've been really inspiring just being themselves. The things that they've mentioned today spoke volumes.
They've been an encouragement. Doesn't have to spend the whole day with them. With only 2 hours of meeting and working along side with them, they've already inspired me with their stories.

Looking at myself, sometimes i really wonder do i have what it takes to be like them, to be where they are today and to go through the things that they've gone thru.
i do not want to underestimate God. i know He can do amazing things and it's not about what i can or cannot do.

I can't help it.
But
It's scary sometimes.

Right now,i just want to wait on Him and allow Him to prepare me for whatever He has planned.
Till then, give me much patience, much strength, much courage to want to step into the unknown, to move out from my comfort zone and make it all about You and Your kingdom.

I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

Ta Pin Lo

My cg mates unanimously decided to have steamboat for dinner when Synd mentioned one night that her mum bought her a rice cooker.

And so yesterday after many attempts, we finally had our first cg steamboat and it was pure kegembiraan.

We had so much. So much of everything. Moderation wasn't at all in our gastronomy vocabulary that night.

We just ate and laughed and ate and laughed again.

We bought so much of balls and of every kind we could get our hands on. Sotong balls, fried fish balls, vege balls, chicken balls, etc. But it was way too much and that's when we had to resort in playing games in order to finish the food.

Typical, kiasu, girlie steamboat night.

The first leap

Whohoo!
Finnaalllyy...ive got a new project title. Will not bore you with all the details and jargons but yea it's something to do with fungus and genes. I myself is sometimes lost in all the jargons and terms. *sigh*
Couldn't wait any longer. Was pretty anxious just sitting around, not being there nor here.
Thank God for it.
But time is seriously running out
I've got only 3 more weeks before my proposal seminar and work progress: 0.05% done

Gonna be starting on my lab work hopefully by this friday.

Musings

The sight of this made me laugh when i first saw it.

take a closer look....

Both bears belong to my room mate in uni and she has the habit of tucking them in nicely before going out to classes. The first morning in our first semester of bunking together, the sight of it (above) made me laugh. Not smile okaayy but laugh. Don't ask why, it just tickled me when i saw how nicely they were tucked in. They even have names ok!

However, when my room mate's still asleep and i happened to have an earlier class, sometimes this is spotted instead.

Haha!

So gonna miss her when she graduates this April along with other close friends whom i've met during my stay here in upm.

Yea, i'm gonna miss them.

Catching up

To me, weekends are a gem, cause that's the only time where i get to:-

1) Sleep in my bed
2) Eat home cooked food
3) Ber-bonding with my family
4) Bathe in warm water
5) Hang out with people who are close to my heart.

Had a good time yesterday.

Just hanging out and being with them.

People who are close to my heart.

The week that has just passed.

Here are some pics which i took while in campus, the past week.

I realised that i don't realise how fast time passes when i'm caught up in the routines, so much so, sometimes i fail to pause, see and cherish the little and finer things of life.

But when i did pause and look, it was indeed worth the time.

Was on my way to class one morning when i came across this..... dew drops.
Waiting to board a bus one afternoon and when i looked up, voila!
These little things (called bracket fungi pronounced as fun-jai ) are just so nice to look at. Stumbled upon these things while walking to class one afternoon.
Sulur paut?! (tendrils)

Ahh..this is rare to spot while in campus. My friends and i were playing basketball one evening when suddenly we saw this unidentified flying object in the sky.

Truly, He makes all things beautiful in His time.

In His time.

What would you rather do?

You are cold, hungry but super tired. You haven't eaten for 2 days and slept for the past 38 hours. Basically you are hungry and tired at the same time and at the same degree.
If given a choice between the following 2 things, which would rather take?
You can't take both or one after the other, you just gotta take one..
Would u take this

1) You are given a table laden with all sorts of your favourite food. Everything that you can possibly think of is there on the table and is for you to take it, as much as you want. No bills to pay after that. You can eat all you want at your own pace. You know you are hungry.

or

2) A nice, comfortable, warm bed with fluffy comforters, crisp bed sheets and pillows suited to your liking is prepared for you. You have all the time to sleep on it, no alarm clocks, no time limit. You haven't slept for the past 38hrs and u needed to take that rest.

Which one would you choose to do?

Sleep or eat?

I can't remember if this question was posed to me or a question i posed to someone but yea i remembered this question and i thought this was quite interesting.

To a certain extent, I guess i know how it feels to be both( hungry and tired) at the same time, especially when you just got back from a camp or after a long flight and you just got home. And somehow, sometimes you'll just tend to choose one over the other or at least one over the other first.
My choice would be
.
.
.
.
.

to sleep in this case, or to sleep first, realistically. Haha!.. No surprise to those who know me.

The rationale?
When i'm asleep, usually i don't feel the pangs of hunger.

But then again, i know of people who can't fall asleep if they are feeling hungry :)
But for me, nothing beats going into slumberland. ZzzZzzz

rusty

and so i had my first proper basketball game after a super loooong time.
Love the game and i remember how we used to play it so often ( relatively, compared to now ) and how i never got bored of the game.
I also remember how i wanted a basketball net so badly that i resort to tying my mum's wastepaper basket to the fence and tried shooting into it. It got my mum so furious.
And i also remember, how we love Pendidikan Jasmani so much because it's the only time we could play and laugh our lungs out without any restrictions.
I remember how that same game brought us all together, and brought the competitiveness out in us.

anyway, so yesterday, though i was also having a blast playing the same game with my uni mates, laughing at each other's mistake, and just being ourselves, somehow it wasn't the same.

And here are some of the reasons:-

Reason 1: I can't shoot anymore. I had a zillion times of opportunities to shoot the ball into the basket but i blew it each time i attempted. I can't shoot anymore. Real rusty okaayy..It was quite sad and disappointing. I used to be quite good at it okaayyy (che..wah!)...but not any more.

Reason 2: We were only playing half court and yet only after about an hour playing the game, i was already gasping for air. Yesterday, i felt i've aged. :(

I'm rusty now.

But i still love the game.

Bangkok

Sawadeeka`....

Here are some snapshots of Bangkok, Thailand.

Main streets

A temple by the Chao Phraya River

The king's palace, with sis
The taxis in Thailand come in all sorts of colours. Pink, orange, blue, green. Pick your fav colour and flag them down.
Tuk-tuk

The view from our room. Bangkok by dawn

Place of worship

Chatuchak Market.

The modern side of Bangkok.

Getting ready for the New Year's Eve Countdown

Ta-da!..All lighted up. . One station away from here, that's where one of the 4 bombs blasted, hours before the countdown celebration.

5 things i like about Bangkok, Thailand.

1) Their language.

I like how the Thais speak their language. It's just so nice to hear them talk..phaeng koen pai..ni tau rai...khap khun ka..

2) How they adore their king.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how much they really adore their king. Almost everywhere you can see either Thai people wearing yellow silicon wristbands similiar to the ones created by Lance Armstrong Foundation but this one has "Long live the king" on it instead or posters of their king pasted everywhere; big and small, on billboards or in taxis.

I can't help but be reminded each time i see a poster of their king, that this land i'm stepping on has never been dijajah before. haha!..Sejarah Tingkatan 3.

3) Shopping.

Though i think i need not say further on this, but seriously, everything is cheeeaaap in Thailand! Sooo cheeaapp. And everything is bargain-able. Haha!

4) Tuk-tuk

This little moving things are so fun to have around and so much so it has been a trademark of Thailand. The drivers are super skilled and they can manoeuver even the narrowest bend. Penang drivers can't beat them and they've earned my respect. No wonder they've been featured in blockbusters, movies and documentaries for the umpteenth times.

5) The Thai people.

They are super courteous and especially to the aged. Their genuity, warmth and the way they interact with each other..two thumbs up.

Love the experience. Would love to be there again.

Bangkok=Mangkuk...(in cantonese)..so funny!

Learning and facing

it's the 3rd day of another new semester, another new year, and there's just so much to think about, so much to do.Just to think about this semester only and all that i need to accomplish within the next 13weeks is already scary and stressful. I can't even begin to anticipate what awaits me around that bend. it seems as if i'm at the start of everything once more and whatever i have or whatever i think i have is just inadequate to accomplish it.

It's frustrating.
It's worrisome.
It's time to learn all over again.

I know, that even though i could drown myself with self-pity and wallow in my own sorrows all i want, all day long, things would still be the same.
Life still has to go on.
I would still need to face it.

But i thank God for friends. Good friends.
Friends that are there when everything around me seems to be crumbling.
Friends that allow me to be real and be who i really am.
Friends that make me laugh when i'm boohoo-ing.
Friends that would go to the extra mile just to make sure that everything's ok.
Friends to journey with me.
Friends who became more than friends.

and that made it bearable.

Lord,thank you so much.
