(Let me know if you find any of them interesting and would like to be added to my WIP Taglist)!
Synopsis: In the overgrown forestry of Blue Oak, something long forgotten has become unearthed.
April Adams, a chemist, poisoner, and ever elusive criminal, finds himself in charge of mitigating the disaster beginning to poison the forest and its residents.
But as April's past begins to haunt him in the vast woodland - and the discovery that more than he'd bargained for lurks beneath the surface of his home village - he starts to realize there might not be a way out for any of them.
The quaint religious commune of Sight is a highly sought after place to live. People will convert religions, leave families, marry unhappily, just to live there. But a dark secret that transpires through history is slowly revealed through the death of the commune's most prominent leaders.
Desperate for help, Arizona Close is visited by his sister-in-law with the news his parents are dead, and his brother needs his help. Wishing to repair the damage he'd done when he'd left, he begrudgingly agrees to return for the funeral. But his need for answers soon cause secrets to become unearthed.
I physically cannot give a synopsis of this book without spoiling book two, but here's something:
The book centers around the character of Ana, who founded the organisation that Ari and April work for. The book is centered in the city of Cyber, so it has more Cyberpunk vibes. It's less of a mystery and more of a thriller, with countdowns against the clock, lots of tension, and heartache. Ari and April are also in this book, but both are reeling from their homecomings and are worse than functionally useless - they are self-destructive. So, trying to solve (the plot) and trying to keep her friend, and insane chemist together, Ana has got to figure out who she's willing to become.
In the beginning there was the Forest and the Sea. The Sea so loved the Forest that it gifted it life; the Forest so loved life that it moulded it into humanity. Humanity's complexities grow as they do, and with it, so do their crimes. To relieve humankind of its imbalance, the Forest created the Seven Cardinal Sins. This is their interactions with humanity.
Balance is stored in the magic of the Forest's king. His sleep ensures that stability is kept between all the elements. When he wakes, long before he should, the balance collapses, and the end is nigh.
-
Dea has spent her entire life trying to fit in, trying to understand the people around her. Luckily her best friend is an outgoing, talkative, always-in-the-centre-of-attention sort of person. If only she'd figure out sooner that it was because it was a bored fey going for its sixth university degree.
Aspen was charged with guarding its lover, the Forest's King, as he slept to maintain the balance. But 150 years is a long time, and getting distracted is its specialty. Now its got to find him again.
And it looks like Dea's coming with it.

There was always that knowing. Stood in the silence of a dark room, walking the lonesome path of a muddy forest. Each time, you knew, you were alone, and you weren't. When you looked into the dark sky, in place of the moon was a single eye, and you knew.
You were never alone.

Join Mallory, his less-than-normal neighbours, and his oblivious husband, as they try to uncover the purpose of the building they're now bound to.

She was a sacrifice to their gods. But their gods loved her more. And she, she would realise, would love them just as much.
When Fleur wakes up in the dirt of the dandelion forest, she doesn't have the answers to any of her questions. But with the help of the charismatic and overly-friendly fairy that has met her acquaintance, she might yet have a chance to find them.

These are from Name From Nowhere, and for anyone unfamiliar with that world, rehab is prison (and it's awful)...
Ten years though. Ten fucking years. I’m thirty. I don’t even know what that means. How am I meant to be thirty? How am I meant to be anything? I’ve been in rehab nearly as long as I’ve been an adult. Who the fuck am I? Who remembers my name anymore?

Today is a very special day for us, some of you might have anticipated it: It's the day of our 300th prompt(s), and we prepared a little celebration for you! But 300 prompts also mean 300 weeks of Flash Fiction Friday, and with some breaks, we had our 6 year anniversary this February. That is why we also prepared an extra announcement down below.
We wish you a lot of fun with our six brand old prompts and happy writing! ✨🎉
Finally, a book for men!
Have you ever engaged in totally normal male behavior like:
Stealing porn magazines?
Hooking up with guys on Grindr?
Attempting to work in an open-pit mine despite having no relevant job experience?
Crossdressing as a woman?
Attending Gnostic Mass?
Running for government office?
Then this is a book for you!
It is definitely not a deeply felt collection of transsexual short stories, engaged in dissident metaphysical investigation of the normative tenets of gender in our society! Bro, how could you say that? It is very dramatic and exciting, yes, but it is not metaphysical at all. In fact, it is Realistic Fiction.
As if Charlie Chaplin re-wrote the works of Kafka, and he was a Russian trans man, Anton Solomonik brings a funny, heartbreaking, and startlingly unique new voice to contemporary short fiction.
Every once in a while the internet points me to a good horror short film. This is one of these times. This one is also good because it's entirely free of jumpscares, it's all creepy atmosphere and boy howdy is it creepy

I've started to add more scene writing into my writing. I'll share that.
The night is young, and at the same time an ancient beast. Its entire cycle of life to death coincidentally follows the moon. But not the phases, or so it seems. The gleam of light the white of an eye; there are times the entire city is on surveillance from above, so there are times the entire city warrants nothing but a pass. And tonight of all nights is no different. The moon above them an orange rind, picked to pieces until there’s nothing but an impression of the outer skin. There is still an out if the night’s forgiving. It can look away, play pretend. It could say the lifetime it leaves behind is more distracting than Linkon City.

Some more writing from Released, which has consumed my waking and sleeping life:
When I say that stepping into Kieran’s flat was like walking through a portal to another place entirely, I am not exaggerating. A wave of tranquillity bathed me as the threshold fell closed in my wake; locking out a busy and complicated world, forgotten in an oasis of green that coated every surface. The whole place was covered in plants. They hung from walls and cluttered shelves, the windowsills made of propagations that lay roots-bared on trays, and many stood from floor to ceiling like trees.
I only briefly wondered how they thrived so beautifully, as the window’s light would not reach all of them - but Kieran looked so cheerful that that dimness in his eyes had gone, and I couldn’t ask. This was his home, and I could see a radiant change in him as he collapsed into a rocking armchair by the window. “I don’t get out much,” he explained, pulling a blanket around his thin shoulders, which served only to make him more gaunt and sickly than before.
“I wouldn’t have thought it were a room if you’d shown me a picture and said it was a garden.”
He laughed, beaming with a shine to his eyes. Despite this, he sunk into the chair and held the blanket with a now-shaking hand.
“Do you need anything?” I wondered. I had never been particularly paternal, so it surprised me to worry about the boy.

From Particle Decay, chapter 4 (or 5, on AO3):
At a quarter to eleven, she finally unlocked the door.
"What are you doing here?" She squinted up at them through the chiming of the shop bell, her voice thick with exhaustion. "Is this about the email I sent you?"
"In... a way."
"In what way?"
Johannes cast a shy look over their shoulder. "Could I come in?"
After another moment of groggy squinting, Ms. Somoza rasped a "sure" and stepped aside to let them in. "Sorry about your client," she said as Johannes oriented themself in her office again, surrounded by mountains of paper and technology. "Pity."
Johannes regarded her. She sounded sincere enough, but the platitude still rung hollow. How could a 'sorry' make up for the horror of Ms. Czajkowska's life slipping through their fingers like this? How could that plaster over the bitter rage, the disappointment, the self hatred of letting it all happen like this?
"Thank you," they said anyways, softly, because none of it was really her fault.

Thank you so much <3 Ari is doing…uh. Well he’s doing, for sure! I’ve not killed him off yet! I’m having a time with his personality at the moment, he’s gained a mild sense of humour.
Firstly, pretty much everyone in this thread is a writer I admire greatly. I also have @winterandwords @bloodlessheirbyjacques @tc-doherty @did-i-do-this-write and @oh-no-another-idea who were some of the first writeblrs I ever followed and got to know, and whose writing is diverse and unique to them. I know I’m absolutely forgetting to add people, because I am on and off writeblr a lot whilst I deal with some…health issues, amongst other things.
Thank you so much again <3
