Romance of a Fruit Peddler 1922
as a silent film, it just tells too much with the extensive used of captions. the build-up of the romance is too awkwardly paced and stretches out from nothing. a solid representation of daily lives that focuses on the petty urbanites' lifestyle in 1920s shanghai, but nothing that is meticulously crafted. it surely has its own historical and cultural significance in detailing the average citizen's life. the common people's lives are displayed with comedic elements, which reflect a historically immanent emphasis on comedy and realistic representations of lives in Chinese mainstream cinema.

is a messy drama being extreme unfortunate in some sense. the last episode helps pulls the depth so much which is the spotlight. still is a messy drama. bit too dramatic. and i guess my issue is that it feels somewhat predictable and bland in the first few eps, but the second half gets better.
tbh what problem asians are going through is just a lack of intrinsic motivation (don’t spill it don’t)
