Really liked this a lot when it was a sweet romance about a guy learning that he needs to break out of living exclusively in a protective cocoon and a girl learning that she deserves more than she is allowing herself to have (Quaid and Midthunder are so good as the central romantic leads)
Liked it less when it was an action movie about a guy who barely registers it when a giant spiked metal ball slams into his back

Surprised at how much of this feels directly like a dry run for War of the Worlds (the opening image of the dead floating on water, the crowd growing more and more panicked as they try to evacuate right as the Japanese army invades, and the emptiness of the world when the war is near its end come immediately to mind
