  Twenty minutes in, a sex scene with a yellow-orange circle rapidly blinks, stops, slowly blinks again. Sometimes other circles move into the frame. Remarkable in portraying the rollercoaster of female arousal. Director’s nowadays seem to lack the art of orgasmic symbolism and I’m glad to find another gem where such care is taken. A scene worth rewinding for. If only I felt the same way for the characters. This rides on the coattails of  colorful cinematography, feeling a bit forgettable elsewhere (which says something considering it repeats itself a few times). 

  At least it ended on a shot worth lingering on.

  If this was peak Tumblr days, I’d be hardcore reblogging gifsets of Igor and Anora. I was tempted to give this an extra .5 stars for Igor.

  Although this is high quality, I just didn’t enjoy watching it enough—it’s simply not my preference of movie or storytelling to rate it any higher. Maybe I just went into it hoping it’d have a similar charm that The Florida Project does. It does have moments that make this movie worthy of rewatching…

  Look I understand why you’d think to use Also Sprach Zarathustra in that context, but that doesn’t stop it from being a horrendous use of influence in an already overly influenced movie.

  I feel a lil bad rating this mid because it has great moments and stellar acting, but damn despite the grotesque it drags on.
