Settles into a less ambitious rhythm after a strong contender for the greatest opening 25 minutes of the 2000s, but while I was skeptical of this story being told by the white man(n) it's incredible how he doesn't present this like history, he presents it like it's happening now. And even if "now" is now a little retro, it's immediate in a way that wasn't possible then.

cute and engaging but the kind of thing I respect more than personally like-- would've probably just been posted to youtube if it was 10 years ago, but i think it's great that it's gotten this distribution and hype, even if i think it could've done with things like a pass on the fur shaders before primetime. of course being both an amateur 3d artist and a cat owner I feel a little obliged to be a fan.

This was terrible, but not because it disgusted or offended or even confused me. It was just boring and familiar, the usual sexist, white guy shock jock bullshit except it made it worse by wasting Parker Posey. Also needed to be at least an hour shorter. Maybe two. Lots of people calling this Aster's best! It's his worst and studios need to stop giving him money.

    Edit: I Was Angry

Edit 2: I can't stop thinking about this film but…

Drove to the city just to catch this one. It was worth it and more. Deserves to be in every theater. I knew a little about the book-- mainly that Whitehead had based it on similar real-life schools-- but I wasn't expecting this story to be so layered, rich, emotional. For a film in which at least one character in every scene is always obscured from view, it's the most human thing I've seen in a long time. This is a damn movie, folks. Don't miss it.
