If you're gonna make a movie that constantly reminds the viewer of 12 Angry Men, it better be really damn compelling or have an interesting angle that differentiates it from that film in a meaningful way. Juror #2 not only fails at both but also comes across as pandering and unbelievably lazy for a courtroom drama. I spent the first 30 minutes believing it was a much more clever film than it actually is and the last 30 minutes just laughing at it.

Mickey 17 2025
Timely, unique, well-acted, and conceptually interesting, but the film sacrifices tension and subtlety for over-the-top, seemingly aimless subversiveness to make sure you are very aware it is satire. Mickey17 shares tonal similarities with classic 90s films like The Fifth Element and Starship Troopers that sort of toy with powerful ideas without committing fully to them. Definitely conflicted on this one.

Memento 2000
Straight up an ingenious use of perspective and non-linear structure to make the audience feel what it's like to have persistent short-term memory loss, while also being a highly competent neo-noir thriller in it's own right. Ironically, this one has stuck with me ever since.

My Old Ass 2024
This movie unfolds in a beautiful way, starting as a Gen Z pseudo-stoner comedy and progressing into more serious and poignant territory as it reaches its climax. This one made me cry a lot in the theater as the credits rolled, which took me completely by surprise. Great performances, competently shot. It takes a simple premise and turns it into an effective narrative vehicle to drive the plot home with a heavy emotional punch.
