In a departure from his previous oeuvre, Garland switches to a non-fictional work, and a collaborative one at that. It seems, in part, a continuation of a conversation he started in Civil War. I liked this one more than the first one. I am not sure if the lead actor can act very well but he’s pretty hot. The fashion/verbage is certainly of its time, but it’s feels nostalgic for me. I wasn’t really using it because I was too young, but it leeched into the culture I consumed at that age

Wow, now this is a block buster. Delivers on the first in spades. Love the pacing, gives room for side families and Fremann culture. The sections with Florence Pugh and the emperor? Amazing. The sections with Austin Butler? Amazing. Not a big fan of Butler but he is a different beast here, and is barely recognizable. My favorite part of the film is his respectful retort to Paul: “may your blade chip and shatter”.
