It's a decently well-polished spectacle of Chinese mythology structured like a Dragonball Z/Shonen anime. The plot is relatively shallow, but it serves as solid vehicle for the fight scenes. The writing is very exposition-heavy, though as a newcomer to Chinese mythology, the hand-holding was welcome. It allowed me to (barely) keep up with what's happening as the film weaved through its extravagantly ridiculous plotline at a decently fast clip.

The scale and execution, particularly for the (many, many) fight scenes, are grand. Despite the long runtime, I found myself repeatedly surprised and delighted. I can see why China is going crazy for this movie.

Overall this was a very entertaining movie, but it felt bloated and unfocused. This movie seems to be trying to say too many different things at once while neglecting to go in-depth about any of its themes. Some of the performances were a bit too hammy and some dialogue was overwritten, which hindered the meaningfulness of the delivery of some of the film's messages. At its core, I loved watching Mickey and his iterations, so I wished the movie kept its focus on him and the thought experiment around cloning. Even still, this was an eccentrically fun watch.

It's a legendary animation classic that still holds up today. As the first full-CG film ever made, the animation has definitely aged, but the brilliant writing and story remain timeless. The film's pacing moves at a perfect pace, filled with imaginative ideas and memorable gags. There's never a single lull in entertainment with the film's steady stream of iconic sequences. Though I don't remember a time before this film's existence since it's almost as old as I am, I don't…

Equally grotesque and eccentrically humorous, this movie shines a spotlight on wealth inequality. It's not what I would call a pleasant watch, but given the subject matter - it's perfect.
