After my last Mubi movie, I said I should stop picking movies I’d never heard of from Mubi. But dammit I did it again and I hated it again!
I was compelled to watch a hiking movie, but little did I know I’d be spending so much time just watching hiking. And they didn’t even get to a nice view at the end!! There were some really cool things in this movie: the incident and an handful of images, and it would’ve made a great short film. It could’ve been literally 15 minutes.
Like so many before me, I had to see if it was as bad as everyone says. It really was. So many awkwardly quiet scenes, so much lame writing instead of fun badness. The powers are so cool! And the ensemble works on paper! How they managed to make those things no fun I will never understand.
I just love overhyping festival movies on here, but please see this movie everyone!!!! Carey Mulligan is a top 3 favorite actress and she wasn’t even my favorite performance in this movie!! There is no chance I see a 2025 movie that supplants Tim Key as the best actor winner in my heart. The acting!!!! The music!!! The setting!!!!
Fuck yea five star movie. So pumped to be in on this on the ground floor.
