You had me at stop-motion animation.

The story behind this film may be better than the movie itself, but that’s not to say the movie isn’t enjoyable.

Animator/Director David Allen worked on it off and on for the last 30 years of his life.  Dreamed up in the late ‘60s, advertised as “coming soon” in the ‘80s, principal photography didn’t start until the ‘90s.  Yet, the film remained unfinished when Allen died around the turn of the millennium.  Charles Band…

    More DIY movie-making mayhem.

The basic premise is “Island of the Zuni Fetish Dolls”.  Yep, somebody saw Trilogy of Terror and decided to make an unofficial prequel.

Lewis Pullman and Mackenzie Leigh make for an adorable couple who have the misfortune of starting a relationship just as a vampire moves to town.  Alfre Woodard adds gravitas and humor to her…

Hardware meets SIlent Night, Deadly Night.

In the Q&A after the BeyondFest screening, writer/director Joe Begos said that this started out as his pitch for a SNDN reboot.  When those producers passed, he decided to create his own story from the killer robot Santa conceit.  You’ll be glad that he did.

This film is a blast!  Particularly with a crowd.

Ironically, the robot is the least interesting part.  It ain’t as if Begos had the time or money to build…
