vibrant, funny, authentic and bathed in that golden glow of a sweaty NYC summer
a summation of everything great about Malick and also a harbinger of the frustrating and rudderless films that he’d pump out in the wake of this film.
More of a series of events than a story, A Complete Unknown can’t compete with other Dylan films like No Direction Home or Dont Look Back or Inside Llewyn Davis in their depictions of the 60s and Dylan’s rise. Chalamet is pretty good and Edward Norton is excellent. Absolutely insane choice to make a movie about Bob Dylan in the 60s and not show him doing any drugs.
