失衡空間, 아그라
I laughed and I cried,
because this work of fiction
is so incomprehensably useless,
the editing can only be meant as a sick joke,
I'm absolutely convinced,
that the director kept rolling and rolling,
being of the conviction
that every minute of film is precious
and must be kept in,
at all cost,
I don't think,
that I can see a shot/reverse shot
with the same eyes ever again,
I don't even want to talk about the sex scenes,
all in all,
a violent attack on the senses,
I laughed and I cried...
And a part of me died.
I was looking forward to checking this out soon because of the contrasting reception between the critics and the audience. I wanted to see where I would end up on the spectrum and I ended up having mixed opinions on this one.
On one hand, Karun Behl's is an unfiltered look at the consequences of repressing the male sexual desires under a strict patriarchal system, portrayed through an examination of Guru's life in Agra. With not one good role model to look up at and a childhood filled with ostracisation and loneliness, Guru's teenage lust reeks into his early twenties as he constantly looks for Mala, a beautiful girl whose sexual pleasure will apparently fix the person he is. For…
One of the most tasteless and unerotic depictions of sex I have ever seen in films. The whole thing is edited without any sense. Nearly all scenes are too long or don't belong in the film at all. The characters are like chameleons, their motives and attributes change fluently, and with them the conflicts between the characters, and scenes just happen but have no consequences for following scenes, and the antagonist shifts every few minutes.
I normally don't care for plot and screenwriting rules, but Agra reminded me, that they may be useful from time to time.
Messy Indian Pornhub
This might feel like a very smart film to a filmmaking student.
I really liked the symbolism behind the name and where the movie is set. Agra is famous for two things, one is Taj Mahal, which is a huge spacious Beautiful place made by shahjahan for her wife, as a sign of love. And second is Biggest and most mental Asylums in india are in agra i believe. Both these things connect to the themes of the movie. A sexually repressed young man(Guru) lives in a cramped space with a dysfunctional family and is also struggling with mental health. It explores the relationships which are based on lust and greed, Rape culture and sexual violence. I know there are lots of things to unwind in a movie, i guess that's why…
after the film i was just hain? The man next to me was also as confused as me.
Agra is wonderful exploration of sexual repression in India where sex is taboo Agra explores land conflict and sexual repression wonderfully through visual language some might not like the film but it's honest reality portrait through images kahu behl has the potential to be likes of Anurag kashyap
Bro what-
Men desire sex like crazy. Women desire financial security like crazy. That is it. That's the movie. With random shots of chemical liquids dripping.
Could there be less depressing way to show this?
Visual texture, a certain texture to the way people speak. And then Priyanka bose who is just magic on screen. The way the city feels more than looks. This film makes the city feel a certain way. Very very claustrophobic. Very suffocating. I’m terms of being wet and stuffy. All the time. This feeling of the city shows even on characters’ faces. Also those oil color mixing interludes. ❤️
A bit too many unnecessary pauses or I admit I am a bit too dumb to read between the lines. Either ways, only a bit bearable. #MAMI
