  The first time I saw this was in a theater in Serbia. The Russian was translated to Serbian so I could only make out a little. 

  But after this second viewing where the Russian is translated to English, I still think Sean Baker should get that Oscar! Also my pick for Best Picture.

  Ralph Fiennes is incredible.

  I went in blind so for the first third of the film I thought this was going to be a murder mystery. Maybe next time.

  In all seriousness, it still functions in that way. Plot devices delivered at the most ideal times, interrogations, snooping, smoking. Fiennes & others judge the candidates on which of their sins are most acceptable to be elected. 

  This review ignores what the film is obviously about. I’m writing this right after watching it so I haven’t had time to collect all of my thoughts. I just enjoyed the style.
