This was like watching some Tarkovskij fever dream.
The stunning shots that Don Askarian manages to pull out are the strong and best part of the movie, which gives much more room to images than dialogues,spacing from mountain landscapes to ancient ruins and city’s glimpses.
The film it’s full of symbolism, and its reflection about the past, present, and especially the future of Armenia is open to interpretation; the struggle and will of the Armenian to protect their art and culture is stressed in various scenes.
The absence of soundtrack slows down the pacing, but helps adding that feel of desperate desolation.Translated from by -
