film as a distraction from law school
🧡 ratings mostly unless i feel like it. functions as a diary w/ stray rambling thoughts at times.
girl who just read excerpts of frederic jameson’s postmodernism or the cultural logic of late capitalism for class, watching barton fink: getting a lot of postmodernism vibes from this…
im sure 吳君如’s back hurt from carrying this whole movie. the framing device of a police interview lends itself to too much exposition and narration - which i find to be a common problem with a lot of the newer hk films. the fact that the central relationship hinges on texting (i.e. forcing people to write how they feel) certainly doesnt help.
anyways, this has some of the most obvious product placement you will ever see - including an extended shot of a klook car, which cuts to 吳君如browsing klook for restaurants…cmon yall pack it up
feel the director deserves a bit of leniency because this is his debut feature but man, what a bloated, overly ambitious, unfocused and meandering mess. tries to say so much but ends up saying nothing
liked most of the performances tho
