My only complaint about this movie is that it was too short. The film manages to subvert the spy genre by promoting two leads committed to maintaining a solid marriage in a cutthroat profession.

At the same time, the film masterfully upholds the genre from the lightning fast dialogue (which was incredible) all the way down to the mesmerizing score. The whodunit was laid out perfectly and the reveal was satisfying.

A crown jewel of spy movies.

With 90s montages and cutting galore, the thrills in this movie are nonstop. There are some intense sequences that make this movie thrilling, but it never seems to slow down during the 2+ hour runtime.

There were a few moments with Will Smith and Gene Hackman, or Smith and Regina King, that gave the film some emotional pulp. I wish the movie was more interested in providing this. Nevertheless, the spy genre beats are awesome.

Exceeded my expectations for certain. Two things Ray Romano did very well: undercutting romantic tropes and giving supporting cast the time of day. Sure there were some cheesy moments, but this movie was brimming with authenticity. It really didn’t feel like a prototypical family drama, every scene felt important to the story. Excellent pacing.

Man, Chevalier deserved so much better than this. The runtime should already tip you off; there is so much packed in here that nothing really comes to a close. Kelvin Harrison really put himself into this role, but my goodness he had nothing to work with.

Really choppy editing and some cheesy writing screwed this over big time. Should be about 45 minutes longer. Worth watching for the education, but movie-wise there is a heck of a lot to be desired.
