“The man bun... You look like Tom Cruise in that samurai picture nobody watched.”
This movie had a super artsy, dorky and self-aware first 3/4’s of the film. It was very enjoyable. However, it hit the corny gas pedal and decided that 5 slo-mo scenes in the span of one gun fight was interesting for audiences. Sadly it seemed to drop what made it interesting and took an unnecessary corny and predictable turn. The first 3/4’s were a 4/5, but the last 30 min killed the movie’s mojo. Anthony Lamb had the best lines and carried the movie from the second he took the stage.

“Ambition the moth of holiness.”
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this one. The politics, the ideological camps among the cardinals, and the race to the top were all incredibly entertaining. The pinch of humor included throughout the film was just enough—not too much, and not too little. The music score was also fantastic, and the cast was incredible.
