Morocco was a beautifully designed film. The set structures were elegant, clean, and gorgeous. There were constant lines of structure on screen that would line up perfectly with the character, perfect use of cinematic mise-en-scene. The costumes were well planned and thought out that gave a hypnotic effect whenever the troops were aligned. All in all this movie was a good time. The only true complaint I found with this film was its abundant use of non-diegetic sound, because I felt it was a tad distracting. Other than that I think it was super cool how the movie was able to use no action or typical conflict however the film was as engaging as any other. Suggesting that movies don’t need to have constant fighting, explosions, action, etc. to be entertaining. That’s what I found most amazing about the film, was the way it captivated you with such a basic human experience. Specifically the last woman.
For the most part Young Mr. Lincoln is a well put together piece of world. With a beautiful set I couldn't help but feel as if this was a precursor to what would soon come. The way the sets looked one could easily see how western films would adopt the same type of set design.
