Synecdoche, New York 2008
This plays out like one of those slow-burn bad dreams where there's a negative vibe in the air from a string of misfortunes but nothing is jump scaring you awake. You're just there along for the whole strange trip.
Mixed in throughout are also comedic moments, interesting reflections on life, and lots of sex and death. This one has to be seen to be believed and you're probably going to need to see it more than once to appreciate it (I know I will).

After Life 1998
This is a unique concept for a film with a dream-like atmosphere and meditative slow-boil plot. Really makes you think, not just about the film, but about life in general. There aren't too many like this one so definitely check it out.

Hellraiser 1987
Just got to see the Fathom Event 4k showing of this classic and it is as amazing as ever. One of the all-time great horror films with a talented cast (except the derpy boyfriend character), tons of atmosphere, and seriously stunning grotesque practical visual effects. They don't make them like this anymore... in fact they tried and failed to with nine sequels (2-4 are passable in decreasing quality).
Jesus may have wept but you'll be cheering when you see what happens to legendary scumbag Uncle Frank.

Miami Vice: Brother's Keeper 1984
Vaporwave aesthetic in action, moody police drama, practical action/effects, fast cars/boats, great soundtrack, and a proper use of the color teal. What's not to love?
