terrifier meets scary movie and make it auteur????
though there’s a lot of issues i have with the dialogue and story writing, this feels like a fully realized, cohesive vision from oz, and this specific tone feels like his wheelhouse: a pendulum swing between thoughtful gorey horror that uses comedy to relieve tension, and extremely dark comedy that uses horror to explore the knife’s edge of the absurdities of life and death.

i have such mixed feelings about this movie … 😔
pros: amazing cinematography, great soundtrack, INCREDIBLE acting like oh my god everyone in this film killed it and the emotional and physical chaos that ensues is so overwhelmingly immersive and funny and heartbreaking. perfect timing and dialogue and body language, and surprisingly great physical humor?? shoutout candy shop and courtroom scenes.
