I can't believe they hit me with the "and then SUDDENLY she got retrograde amnesia and can't remember her romance" in the last third of the movie and it not only worked but made me almost cry.
P.S. Those last two shots of Wateru and Fusako--one of them in the blinding snow and unable to remember, one of them in the darkness of a phone booth and unable to articulate what he does remember--destroyed me.
P.P.S. I wish there were more movies/series/any media with major mute male characters.
