  My mom had me watch this when I was very young, maybe 10 or 12 years old. Almost none of the story stayed lodged in my brain, so I watched it very late last night. I didn’t really grasp grief like this when I was young, but unfortunately the picture felt crystal clear now. 

  Grief isn’t linear, despite how badly I want it to be. It’s a companion that sits with you, sometimes quiet, sometimes screaming. I kept thinking about the spaces people leave behind. How a life can suddenly contract, how memories become both treasure and torture and  we’re all just trying to keep breathing.
