I love Hagsploitation, I love body horror. Grotesque from start to finish, the obsession with “being someone”, that moment in the spotlight, the nit-picking, self criticising, the surface vapidness of it all, beauty, youth, staying current, being relevant, wanting this unattainable perfection only to realise it was there in hindsight, never satisfied and held in this societally conditioned state of limbo, a trap.
I kept thinking of the Witches, Death Becomes Her, X, Sunset Boulevard and Phenomena (towards the end) …
