Honestly, this movie didn't really evoke too much for me. The storyline was simple and sweet, and the screenplay was arranged well, but the only message or dynamic I took from this movie was that people are ignorant and dismissive of children. I get that to a child, not getting a goldfish is probably the end of the world but if that was the premise, I didn't feel much depth or emotion while watching this film. I get that films don't need to have gripping storylines or philosophical takeaways to be good, except to me they kind of do.
Met with controversy and hostility, Chess of the Wind became a lost film, deprived from the Islamic Republic to their citizens, before finally founded again in a can in a junk shop. Released in a time of revolution for Islam while they attempted to overthrow Khomeini and the Pahlavi dynasty, I understand the contention behind this film.
