In the movie Offside, directed by Jafar Panahi, women in Iran cannot watch/play soccer. In this movie, Iranian females dress up as males so that they can watch the soccer game between Bahrain and Iran. It's very sad because the females that were caught were arrested/guarded by soldiers. It was a good film. It's sad to see that women need to dress up as men to JUST WATCH a soccer game:(

The White Balloon directed by Jafar Panahi is about a seven-year-old, Razieh, who wants a goldfish for her family's pond. The fish shop was going to close in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Razieh and her brother both convince their mother to give them money (500-Toman bill) to buy a goldfish. This film is based on Razieh and her brother's journey to the fish shop. I don't know how a movie can be based on a 90-minute journey to a fish shop, but it was quite interesting. Sorry I logged this late!!!!

    A Separation

    ★★★

A separation, directed by Asghar Farhadi, is about a husband and wife who want to divorce. The wife, Simin, wants her family to live abroad so that her only daughter, Termeh can live a better life and have more opportunities. Her husband doesn't want to move because he wants to take care of his father with dementia in Iran. In this movie, the acting was great, but it was still boring. It was too slow-paced for my liking.

During the civil war in Africa, a warlord, Idris Elba trains an orphan to join his group of guerilla soldiers. This movie is sad because Agu has to learn to kill people at such a young age. Now that I think about it, it's so heart-breaking because we talked about this during class-how child soldiers aren't protected by the government. Only other organizations like UNICEF etc are trying to do something about it.
