    Don’t flirt with her! 😠

Such a fun and aesthetically pleasing film. Wes Anderson is an iconic director and for me this is his best work. The story telling is second to none tragic but light hearted with a star studded cast. It was great to watch this again.

    Black Bag

    ★★★★½

Black Bag is an intense and stylish film that stays on point and doesn’t let up. Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett are brilliant together, their chemistry is electric. The rest of the stacked cast are great but my inner 007 fan boy would have liked to see more of Pierce Brosnan.

This spy game reminded me of the film Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy by John Le Carre and the main character is called George too. Black Bag is one of those films where every scene is important. With plenty of twists and surprises it’s a great addition to 2025.

    Full Metal Jacket

    ★★★★

I have seen parts of Full Metal Jacket here and there but this is my first time watching the whole thing. It’s very dark and harrowing. I found the first half of the film in boot camp difficult to watch at times but Vincent D'Onofrio gives the best performance as Private Pyle.

I haven’t watched many of Stanley Kubrick’s films but I liked his direction and the cinematography. The transition between boot camp and Vietnam was smooth, it’s overall well crafted and at the same time realistic and foul mouthed. I can see why people rate this war movie so highly.

    Dune

    ★★★★½

Dune is such a captivating and dramatic film directed by Denis Villeneuve, based on the books from Frank Herbert. From the start I liked the guttural sound of the introduction to this movie. Dune has such a talented cast and I especially enjoyed the fierce performances from Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Josh Brolin.

There’s some great cinematography and the tense soundtrack accompanies it perfectly. After watching Dune for the first time, I wanted to learn everything I could about the lore. I’m currently reading the first three books in the franchise.
