  Ive always been timid to dive into silent movies. Even ignoring the absence of dialogue, sound and visuals in movies seems inseparable. Now that sound is standard I just couldn’t fathom how a film without it could ever possibly stand up to the movies that came after, but I was so wrong. This movie is genuinely good, not just for its time (although the fact that it came out in 27 is mind blowing) and definitely an easy first watch for somebody who is intimidated to delve into silent movies.
